There is slang in Chinese: Never want any water after coming back from Jiuzhai.  Jiuzhai boasts many clear lakes,some of which are hidden in the valleys and some inlay in the virgin forests.With variety of shapes and sizes, these lakes look like mirrors projecting colorful light rings in the sunshine.

With a total area of 20,000 square km,this huge Tibetan grassland is my favorate place.

Yaks,Tibetan Nomad Tents and  monasteries are the main things you can see in this huge grassland,no internet no starbucks.

Not always the Great Wall or the Terra Cotta Warriors or the Leshan Buddha,a few days of simple life in such remote Tibetan villages makes your Chinese trip special and unforgetable.

Songpan is a county in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. since the ancient time, Songpan has been the gateway to Chengdu Plain. the county is 2849.5 meters above sea level, 335 km from the provincial capital of Chengdu.
The wall in the small city was built in the year of 1379.

During the Tang Dynasty, the Tibetan king Songzanganbu asked the Tang Emperer to marry the most beautiful girl of the country, the Emperer Taizong sent him Wen Prince Wencheng. when they went back from Changan to Tibet, they passed here.

Qingcheng Mountain,the birth mountain of Taoism religion,was listed as the world cultural heritage on 2000 by the UNESCO. 

The Mountain range is devided into 2 sections, the Front Qingcheng and the Back Qingcheng.

The Front Qingcheng attracts more than 90% tourists due to its much easier access,ancient Taoist Temples,it's always

over crowded and touristy.

The Back Qingcheng is 20 km behind  the Front Mountain, the winding road to the Back mountain is fantastic, passing through many villages,forest ,rivers and waterfall.

The Back Mountain is very green and  peaceful, the hiking from the base to the top of the mountain takes about 3 hours,

it's one of the best mountains for a short hiking around Chengdu, and also a very nice off -beaten tracks.

Leshan, literally means happy mountain, is a prefecture-level city located in the middle of Sichuan Basin,and 120 km away south to Chengdu.
Leshan is listed as the National Historical and Cultural City. It’s one of the 4 places in China Buddhists must visit,due to its 2000 years old Buddhism Culture.
The world known Leshan Giant Buddha is by the west bank of the Dadu River, the 97 meters tall Buddha is considered as the Biggest sitting Buddha in the world. And was declared as the World Cultural and Natural Heritage by UNESCO in 1996.
25 km away east to Leshan City, lies the sacred Buddist Mountain Emei, which is also a World Cultural and Natural site by UNESCO. At the Golden Summit of the Emei with an altitude of 3099 meters, it’s amazing place to enjoy the sunrise from the clouds sea. The mountain is dotted with hunderds of Buddhism Monasteries all the way from the mountain base to the summit.
The food in Leshan is definitely something you should not miss, Tianpiya(sweet skin duck), Doufunao(sofe tofu drink), street barbecue,spicy hot pot  can not be more delicious.

Just outside the west 1st ring road is Chengdu’s largest art market, Songxianqiao Art City. Local foreigners and travelers alike will be able to find whatever it is they are looking for here. However, the market is not cheap and a shopkeeper will obviously try to milk a foreigner for as much as he or she can. There is an interesting selection of Mao Zedong memorabilia to go along with the predictable items such as jade jewelry and stamps, buddha statues, animal figures of all kinds, calligraphic wall hangings, tea sets, and loads of pottery. Be patient as the rows of shops and small stalls, all of which sell relatively similar items, keep bending away from the parking lot. With patience and persistence anyone should be able to find a deal they are satisfied with.

How to get there: The market is located just west of the 1st ring road on the corner of Qingyang Shangjie and Kuanhua Beilu. Hop off bus 17, 19, 35, 47, or 309 relatively soon after you cross the large 1st ring road. The bus stop is just past the market, so walk back east maybe 100 meters from the bus stop. A taxi from the center of town will be less than Y12.

Daci Temple, standing right in the most prosperous commercial center for thousands of years, and in Tang Dynasty, it was the biggest temple in the whole city, at that time, Chengdu's economy was at top one or two in China, and Daci Temple almost covers half of the city area. It has attracted so many celebrities and famous monks here, even the emperor himself. You will be surprised by the peace inside the temple and also the colorful lights and  city life right outside its wall.
