Tianmen Mountain
  Genenral Introduction As the saying goes: “In Dayong lies Tianmen Mountain, with a distance of only three point three chi to the sky. He who wants to ascend to heaven should seat the sedan without ceiling, or ride the horse without saddle.” Tianmen Mountain ,1518.6 meters above sea level, stands loftily on the south of Lishui River. It is 1300 meters high above the Zhangjiajie City proper and 8 kilometers from the city that Tianmen Mountain is a unique one. Looking at it from the city proper, you can see that the major peak looks like a big Chinese character “山” (means “mountain”). If the 16 peaks of Tianmen Mountain are watched connectedly, they also present the fantastic image of the character “山”.

  Tianmen Mountain has a forest with an area of 80 hectares, among which includes a primitive sub-forest area of 33 hectares, with an 80% rate of coverage. Owing to its moderate climate and plentiful rainfall, Tianmen Mountain has such a favorable natural environment for the growth of various plants and the multiplication of rare birdss and animals. Many kind of precious species of trees, like dove tree, Chinese tulip trees etc, survive in the area. It is also an eden of rare birds and animals: muntjac, wild boar, wild goat, golden pheasant, musk deer and rhesus monkey. In 1992 this area was evaluated as Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park. The main scenic spots of Tianmen Mountain consist of Tianmen Cave, Tiancao Waterfall, Guigu Cave and Temple of Tianmen Mountain etc.Now ,Tianmen mountain is also a 5A scenic area,as famouse as Zhangjiajie national forest park.Attracted hundreds of thousands of people!

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is located in Sanguan Township of Cili County in Zhangjiajie City and is close to the world natural heritage and the world geological park– Wulingyuan scenic area of Zhangjiajie. It is a new development and construction of scenic spots. Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon combining mountain, water and hole, is the landform museum of Zhangjiajie. Here you can enjoy the scenery of all Karst terrain of the North Temperate Zone!

According to the legend, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon had two names. One called Rotten Ship Gorge, because the water of the whole gorge and the Southern Red Flag Canal is from Shenquan Stream and its spring gushes from many rotten ships, but the local people don’t know the place that the rotten ships come from. So it named after the “Rotten Ship Gorge”. Another name is called Massive Springs Gorge, because there are numerous springs in both sides of the gorge.

There is a quiet stream in the middle of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, and there is a path built by the plank by the stream. Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon has not only traditional beautiful natural scenery, but also has historical and humanistic landscape of three generations. As “Thousands of graves”, the ancient battlefield that recorded the fierce battle of Li Zicheng and Wu Sangui, the bandit hole reflected the history and characteristics of the Xiangxi and the Southern Red Flag Canal.

The main attractions: One-Line-Sky, Family Portrait, The millennial Ancient Rattan, Chuangwang Pavilion, the Southern Red Flag Canal, Zhuaxian Spring, Rotten Ship Rock, The Bandit Hole and so on.

Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve is located in the northwest of Wulingyuan District in Zhangjiajie. It's one of the four scenic spots in Wulingyuan. It covers an area of 100 square kilometers (about 38.6 sq mi). 

Tianzi Mountain is named after the farmer Xiang Dakun of the Tujia ethnic group, who led a successful local farmers' revolt and called himself "tianzi". This means "son of Heaven" and is the traditional epithet of the Chinese emperor.

Kunlun Peak, the highest peak of Tianzi Mountain, is 1.26 kilometers (about 1,380 yards) above the sea level.

Sea of Clouds, wavelike rocky peaks, snow-covered peaks in winter and rays of Sunshine are the most splendid sights of Tianzi Mountain.

Baofeng lake is a part of Wulingyuan Scenic Area of Hunan Province that was listed as a World Heritage site in 1992, is situated on and around Mount Baofeng, Baofeng Lake Scenic Area comprises some 275 hectares, and consists of Baofeng Lake and Yingwo Stockade Village. Baofeng Lake boasts pristinely beautiful natural scenery. Being located high up in the mountains, the lake catches some of the first and purest runoff water from the mountain peaks. Its height also guarantees an air freshness, Baofeng Lake is supported by lush green trees and shrub-clad stone peaks of various shapes that enclose the lake and give it a fairytale-like atmosphere.  There are also majestic waterfalls, Baofeng temple, Baofeng Mount,monkey garden in Baofeng scenic area.

Yellow Dragon Cave, squared at 100,000 square meters, is the longest one in Asia; it is an incomparable realm of gigantic subterranean chambers, fantastic cave formations, and extraordinary features. Many of the wonders of Yellow dragon cave are well known, yet the experience of exploring its chambers is every bit as exciting. The cave remained mystic to local villagers before the first caving adventure took place in 1982. In the cave there’s a stalagmite length at 19.2m in the cave, in 1998 the Yellow dragon cave company has bought one hundred million insurance for it, that’s the event to make this cave become so famous in China.

There's even a river in side and you can enjoy 10 minutes boat riding in the cave! While in the cave, there're lots of steps up, around 2000 steps altogether, takes about 2 hours to visit it.

Dehang is a Miao language means “beautiful valley”, because of the unique landscape with highly straight cliffs and overlapped peaks, Dehang become a beautiful valley with lots of peaks, waterfalls and an area of virgin forest, with some rivers staggered in the region, owned a pleasant climate and rich of flora and fauna. The nature scenery is very beautiful and charming. Dehang is inhabited by a group of Miao people, the folk custom is simplicity: they take mountain songs as a match-maker, free love; women are fond of wearing silver jewelry and no collar embroidered clothing; men love knot leggings and play beautiful music by leaves; they sericulture spinning and waving by themselves.
On the way there, you can marvel at the world most breathtaking bridge, Aizhai tunnel to tunnel suspension bridge, which is newly completed. Hiking along the farm road of the Miao village, reach the highest waterfall in the world----Liusha waterfall, experience the true life of Miao people.

Orange Island was developed as a tourist attraction in 1992. It is in the middle of the Xiangjiang River, and runs almost the entire length of the city..In December, 2009 they built a very large 32 meter high bust statue of a young looking 32 year old Mao Zedong on the island. Walk across the No. 1 Bridge over the Xiangjiang River, just opposite the Yuelu scenic area. You can spend a few hours walking around the island or take a shuttle bus.
