Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is located in Sanguan Township of Cili County in Zhangjiajie City and is close to the world natural heritage and the world geological park– Wulingyuan scenic area of Zhangjiajie. It is a new development and construction of scenic spots. Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon combining mountain, water and hole, is the landform museum of Zhangjiajie. Here you can enjoy the scenery of all Karst terrain of the North Temperate Zone!

According to the legend, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon had two names. One called Rotten Ship Gorge, because the water of the whole gorge and the Southern Red Flag Canal is from Shenquan Stream and its spring gushes from many rotten ships, but the local people don’t know the place that the rotten ships come from. So it named after the “Rotten Ship Gorge”. Another name is called Massive Springs Gorge, because there are numerous springs in both sides of the gorge.

There is a quiet stream in the middle of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, and there is a path built by the plank by the stream. Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon has not only traditional beautiful natural scenery, but also has historical and humanistic landscape of three generations. As “Thousands of graves”, the ancient battlefield that recorded the fierce battle of Li Zicheng and Wu Sangui, the bandit hole reflected the history and characteristics of the Xiangxi and the Southern Red Flag Canal.

The main attractions: One-Line-Sky, Family Portrait, The millennial Ancient Rattan, Chuangwang Pavilion, the Southern Red Flag Canal, Zhuaxian Spring, Rotten Ship Rock, The Bandit Hole and so on.

Here are ten reasons why you should never miss the Great Canyon: 1. Spectacular scene is on show for four seasons and amazing views are presented whenever you visit here. 2. It is also an unique scenic spot which covers aero, land and ocean entertainment in Zhangjiajie including aerial rope slide, group slide, touring boats, bungee jumping, etc. 3. List in the Top Ten Chinese Cultural Scenic Spots, Southern Red Flag Ditch (Nan Fang Hong Qi QU) reflects the spirits of “The Foolish Old Man Who Removed the Mountains”. 4. It is the only location where you can enjoy a plank road made of flexible wood along the long valley. Stepping on the road offers an amazing feeling of wind rolling under visitor’ feet. 5. Here is also a special spot where you can find a 3-D view of water including all sorts of waterfall and curtain of falling water. Profound cultural connotations: the final battle between Li Zicheng( a Chinese rebel leader who overthrew the Ming dynasty and ruled over China briefly as emperor of the short-lived Shun Dynasty in the beginning of 17th century) and Wu Sangui( 1621- October 2, 1678, a Chinese military general who was instrument in the fall of the Ming dynasty an the establish of the Qing dynasty in 1644) in Wu Wang Po in the valley. General Li Guo (Buddha name Yefo), a confident of Li Zicheng was buried here in the valley. Du Xinwu, body guard of Mr. Sun-sen, (12 November 1866-12 March 1925, Chinese revolutionary, first resident and founding of the Republic of China) used to practice and gather herbs I his youth. 8. The world’s longest glass bridge and highest bungee platform will soon be completed here. 9. It is also a home to natural sport park and a paradise for outdoor sports lovers: adventure to the tranquil valley always brings surprise. <p>The van drove us to the top of mountain,on the way passed some villages with old wooden houses and nice people,we brought the tickets of the Grand Canyon,went downstairs though the sky line,there is a 1000 years old big vine on the cliff,we used a slide for the other half way(a lot of fun,recommend to take,we happy like children) to reach the bottom river,400 meters deep Canyon.Then we walked along the river in the canyon,on the way we enjoyed the clear water in the river,found many crabs in the river.There is a big waterfall,around 9 am you can see the rainbow there when sunshine come down.About 1.5 hours hiking in the narrow canyon we can see the stalactites hanging on the cliffs,some caves where the bandits made homes in old days.There also have a ZIP line,plenty of fun.After this we took a boat out,the riding about 15 minutes.Now the 400 meters high glass bridge was in construction,1 year late will be open for tourist.</p>
