Bruce was our guide for the 3 days of our Zhangjiajie trip. He was perfect, from my first mail to our various chats over wechat i was assured of his dedication. Unlike big city guides he was with us from early morning till night. He planned our itinerary in such a way so that we could avoid the most crowded time. He took us over the best hiking routes keeping in mind our fitness levels as we were a family with 9 year old kid and a 60 year old Grand mom. The whole trip was effortless with him there. He was enthusiast on taking our photographs, took us to viewing platforms where we were the only ones. Wherever he felt we needed the extra push to see something unique and stunning he insisted and it was always worth it. If you're looking for someone who goes out of his way to make your trip smooth and knows all the best spots for photography, Bruce is your guy. His English is excellent and he will figure out how to best visit the area so that you get the experience you want. He walks quickly so that you don't waste time at tourist-packed zones but go to the more beautiful and isolated views. If you're learning Chinese, he'll gladly help you practice it and teach you some new words and expressions. If you need recommendations for where to eat or visit beyond the planned tours with him he will give you great directions and ideas. He's fairly quiet but also willing to have good conversations and has a good sense of humor. He went above and beyond all my expectations. I strongly recommend him as a tour guide. Read less

Bruce is an excellent guide who speaks English very well. He has a great personality as well as a vast knowledge and understanding of the Park. This came into play during our tour when we were caught in a sticky situation during a flash flood on the Golden Whip Stream trail. Because Bruce knows the park so well we were never in any danger. When the trail ahead and behind us was suddenly closed by rising water, Bruce immediately took me to dry, covered shelter on safe, high ground. Then he arranged with local villagers to guide us out of the canyon via the trails they use everyday. Those who remained at the shelter were stuck for 18 hours. Thanks to Bruce, I was back in my hotel in time for dinner. He also has contacts with a Hostel on top of Tanzi mountain. Spending a night there allows you to stay in the park for sunset photos and rise early for sunrise. I give Bruce highest possible marks. My three days in Zhangjiajie are wonderful memory thanks to his knowledge and resourcefulness. Thank you Bruce! Read less

Had an awesome one day tour with Bruce checking our Emperor Mountain and Tianzi Mountain Jan 2015. Bruce has exquisite knowledge and and speaks perfect English. He knew of spots to take us where there would be no tourists and gave us all options on how we wanted to take our route up and down the mountain. The landscape is spectacular, even on a hazy winter day. I definitely would recommend doing this tour and using Bruce as your guide. Thanks Bruce!

I highly recommend Bruce as your guide. We had such a good time spending 3 days with Bruce in Zhangjiajie in November of 2012. It was truly one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. It was so nice to experience it with Bruce who has great pride in the area and has such a peaceful spirit. Bruce knew the best places to go and took very good care of us. He loves to sing and we even went to karaoke one night. He has very good English and a funny sense of humor. It was the best experience we had in China and we will remember it always. We visited Zhangjiajie in May, 2013 & were very fortunate to have selected Bruce to be our guide for the 3 days we were in the area.  We arrived late at night,  a day late due to our flight being cancelled. This was no problem for  Bruce who collected us from the airport , drove us to our hotel & along the way explained our itinerary for the 3 days.  Bruce was very prompt, patient, kind, helpful , funny & very knowledgable of this remarkable area. With Bruce's enthusiasm it was obvious he has a love for this beautiful part of China.  Our Chinese was limited to a few phrases, whereas Bruce spoke excellent English & was able to translate for us.  He organised our touring in such a way that we were often able to avoid some of the crowds.  We were able to visit more scenic areas than if we were to try & do our touring by ourselves.  He also pre purchased some tickets in advance, saving us time & money.  Bruce had also booked our onward  train tickets to Liuzhuo prior to our arrival in Zhangjiajie, then re booked them for a later date (due to our flight cancellation).  Nothing we asked of Bruce was a problem for him.   Should you be fortunate to visit this spectacular area, we would highly recommend you contact Bruce & arrange for him to be your guide.  We guarantee you will have a wonderful experience with Bruce.  Thanks Bruce for the time spent touring with you & we wish you a busy year ahead.
