I spent 12 days with Jon on a unique Yunnan trip.

If you are looking for being uninterruptedly comforted by kindness, quick-wittedness, an international mind-set with exquisite capability to organize unprecedented off-the-beaten-tracks trips, looking continually ahead to identify possibly might-be trouble to prevent it on time,

then choose Jon as your personal guide. You wont regret it, believe me :-) .

Jon is a very friendly person and we feel very comfortable with his good attitude to be our tour guide in Li Jiang.

He is professional tour guide with good communication skill.

He provide good explanation and show great patient.

He is a great tour guide.

5 days trip may sound short but I felt I had a fulfilling and satisfied good holiday.

Thanks to Jon for the good planning and smooth trip (not forgetting the professional shifu who drove us around, smooth ride we had that most of us doze off most of the time).

I did research on the popular restaurants to visit but nothing beats recommendations from the guides. The local eateries which they recommended serves inexpensive and delicious local food. These eateries may not be found on Tripadvisor etc.

Having Jon is like having a friend join us on a trip, difference is that this friend is very knowledgeable about Lijiang, passionate about the places he brought us to and the history of the old towns which he gladly shared. I seem to be on a photography trip too, where he would gladly share some photography tips and his beautifully taken pictures.

This is a "win-win" situation, Jon did a good job in providing a good service and we had a refreshing holiday, wanting for more of Lijiang.

I wondered how "good" my trip would be if I had joined a tour with the travel agencies instead, whereby half the trip may be spent visiting silver/medical shops etc.

In my opinion, Lijiang need to be enjoyed with a private tour, sightseeing and hiking to explore her beauty.

If anyone ask me for suggestions for a good holiday, bet you'll know my answer .... Jon and Lijiang :-) *thumbs up*

We (my boyfriend, another couple and myself) had the pleasure of travelling with Jon for a week in October 2014 and not only did Jon provide a seamless experience for us, he really exceeded all expectations. 

From my first email, Jon was quick with correspondence and in shaping an itinerary for our trip.  Two things he did really well included: (1) putting together sights that we loved more than some of my minimal requests and (2) selecting wonderful hotels/guesthouses that were not only comfortable but rich with history.  Also, during my broader planning for our trip to China, I asked Jon to assist me with finding a guide for another province during our travels and he was very helpful introducing me to a local guide whom he knew from university.

In the lead up to our arrival in Kunming, my boyfriend and I had been travelling for ten days on our own and as we were checking into our flight we realised we had left a piece of luggage in the taxi.  It was too late to do anything about it as we were due to board, so I thought I would email Jon about the situation.  By the time we were back on wifi after our flight, I had an email from Jon saying that he spoke to our previous hotel, they were able to get the taxi driver to return the luggage to them, and he arranged for them to post it to the hotel where we’d be staying on the final night of our week with Jon.  Through Jon’s initiative (and a bit of good luck!), the luggage was waiting for us at the hotel in Lijiang and postage only cost 43RMB!  We are so grateful to Jon for his willingness to help us with this, even before we were technically in his care.

However, what is most important to say is that Jon is a passionate person.  He genuinely loves his job, the travellers he guides and his country.  After a week with him, we all felt that we had made a good friend.  If you want someone who will arrange a stress-free trip but also be a pleasure to travel with, then we couldn’t recommend Jon more highly.

Back from a 10 days trip Dali,Shaxi,Lijiang and Lugu Lake, we are really pleased.

We really had a very nice trip. We enjoyed a lot, and we had a very relaxed and professional guidance with Jon and his coequiper and driver. Both are very reliable and trustworthy.

We just let Jon know our special points of interest, and we felt he did his best, and the results were absolutely satisfactory!

Our itinerary included some non-traditional places, and these were also well resolved. They took care of us, in all senses, and we could felt some kind of warm fatherhood, paying attention to acomodations, food, tours in each place, etc. Jon also showed himself restless to fix any aspect of our trip, to make us feel very comfortable, and to gather any other extra information we ask him for.

Jon is today a very good tour guide, and we are sure that Jon will be better and better guide as time goes on. We were really lucky to find this team!

Our heartfelt thanks to both of them for the experience lived in southern west China!
We hope some day we come back, to visit some places that touched our heart, as well as visiting some other places we would like to.

After 3 weeks traveling around China, we must say that our days at Yunnan were the best¡ No doubt.  Probably by the place itself, but most probably for our guide ….

Thanks to Jon, we had the opportunity to discover amazing places,  both breathtaking natural landscapes (Tiger Leaping Gorge), mystical serenity (Shibaoshan) or just quiet villages (Shaxi), with their people or  local, colored  and surprising markets.

For Jon we can only have good words. To sum it up, just say that he is a great professional that conveys passion for his job.
He always provides the necessary data (contextual, historical, cultural, culinary, ...) in order to understand and enjoy the surroundings and travel.

We have also greatly appreciated that he knows how to give the "space", time and discretion, necessary to enjoy the trip with the family.

Jon assured a perfect timing and had a great coordination with ourdriver¡.  Always in the right place at the right moment to pick us up and follow the route.
