River Viewing Pavillion Park is much more peaceful and interesting than its bland name suggests. The park features a four-story Qing dynasty pagoda built between 1886 and 1889. It provides a fantastic unobstructed view of a large portion of the Brocade river as well as the Chengdu skyline. Entrance to the park itself is free. Like everywhere else in Chengdu, tea drinking, card slamming, and Mahjong foursomes leave you wondering, "When do these people actually work?"

The river-viewing pagoda is known as the Tower of Magnificence. It is included in a confined section of the park that is also dedicated to the Tang Dynasty poetess Xue Tao. Entrance to this area is Y20, but the fee is worth it. If you speak Chinese, but do not have student ID, tell them you are a student. If they ask for your ID, just say, "If I am not a student, then how am I speaking Chinese?" (At least this worked for me!) The student price is only Y10.

Very few travellers have the time to come here, and since the park isn’t very centrally located, even many expats aren’t familiar with it. Obviously locals aren’t interested in paying Y20 either. By putting up the entrance fee, you have the opportunity to relax in one of the quietest hideouts in urban Chengdu. The gardens in this section are extremely diverse, serene, and well-kept and finding a shady spot is not a problem. Climb the pagoda and bring a book. The opportunity to enjoy a moment as quiet as this one in a Chinese urban setting is very rare.

Xue Tao was born in Shaanxi province, and wrote her first poem at age 6. She came to Chengdu with no money after her parents died when she was 16 years old. She was quickly able to make a living for herself as a poet. She apparently loved bamboo, so this section of the park includes a bamboo garden featuring over 200 species of bamboo from all over Asia (according to one Chengdu resident). The Xue Tao commemorative hall includes beautiful murals with vibrant neon colors not often seen in China. 

The park is open everyday from 6:00 am until 9:00 pm. The Xue Tao Shrine and Tower of Magnificence are open from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm everyday.

Directions: The park is located southeast of the city center adjacent to Sichuan University. You can catch the no. 35 bus which runs on the north side of the river along Binjiang Lu by walking south on Renmin Lu from Tianfu Square. When you see the park, get off the bus, and walk along the river to the next bridge that allows you to reach the park’s southwest gate. A taxi from downtown should not cost more than Y10-12.

Take bus No. 19, 335, 35, 3 to get there.

Located in Danba county in  the west part of Sichuan province on the Henduan mountain range, near the  slope near Dadu river valley.  Jiaju village is just like  a " hidden paradise" . 

Jiaju in Tibetan language means"a villages with one handred families",  the village is located on the slope on the foot of snow mountain.   with its unique architectures (Tibetan building and fotress towers ) and Tibetan  ethnic culture,  Jiaju village was chosen to be "One of the 6 most beautiful villages in China in 2005. 

The village is on the travel route of West Sichaun trip,  if you start the trip from Chengdu, you will pass by Dujianyan irregation, Wolong giant panda base, then siguniangshan(Four gilrs mountain),  Xiaojin county, then arrive Danba.   Continue the trip, you will pass by Bamei, Tagong grassland, Xinduqiao,  Litang county then reach Daocheng county.   

It a nice road trip if you travel with private car with driver.

Located just a short bus or train ride from Chengdu, Leshan is home to the world’s tallest stone Buddha in the world and the largest pre-modern statue in the world.

Like something out of ancient fiction, this towering (71 metre) representation of Maitreya sits solemnly on the banks of the Qingyi River. With its proximity to Chengdu’s panda centre, it’s a perfect day trip. In fact, there are many Chengdu tours that combine the two!

Genyen is called Holy Mountain Genyen or Genie in Tibetan. It is one of the 24 holy mountains in Tibet. It is home to over dozens of high mountains. Genyen also indicates the massif itself. The highest peak of Genyen is also named Mt. Genie or Mt. Genyen, with an altitude of 6204 meters. Mt. Genyen is ranked the 3rd highest mountain in Sichuan Province. Mt. Genyen is the highest mountain in Shaluli Range. It is a holy place for many Tibetan people. Genyen Massif is located south to Litang and 800km west to Chengdu. Genyen is one of the most wild and unexplored parts of China that few people have explored. It is home to many kinds of species, plants, and highland turquoises lakes, unsummited peaks, hot springs, hidden monasteries and the original nomads people.

Gonggashan is a group of mountains in western Sichuan in Ganzi Tibetan Prefecture. Its highest point is the top of a 7556-meter mountain Mount Gongga, which is called the king of Sichuan Mountains. Gonggashan is home to many big mountains over 5000 and 6000 meters, big glaciers, primitive forests, beautiful alpine valleys, Tibetan nomads people and a very fine adventure travel destination, once listed as one of the top 10 hiking destinations in China. It is located at about 300km west to Chengdu near the town of Kangding. Tsopu Lake - Tsopu Valley

Tsopu Lake is also called Cuopo Lake. It is a beautiful highland lake located 150km west to Litang Xian and 80km east to Batang Xian. It is 35km north to the national highway 318 from Litang to Batang. Tsopu Lake is the name of the lake by the foot of Mt. Zhajin Jiabo. The place shares the name Tsopu and covers an area of 900 sqkm. Tsopu Lake is accessible by strong cars. Many people travel here due to its beautiful lakes, temples, prairies and mountains. It is now called the first holy lake in Kham. Niete Gangri and Zhajin Jiabo are the visible mountains from the south. The lakes include Tsola Lake, Yamo Tsogen Lake and Tsopu Lake. Tsopu is a holy place worshiped by local Tibetan people. And it is also where local people have their festivals including the horse-racing festival.
