Nanshan bamboo forest park from Tianmu Lake tourist resort 18 kilometers to the south, the traffic is very convenient, set out from Tianmu Lake, along the two highway to the South Harbour District mangosteen. Nanshan sea area in 2000 September officially opened, it is located in Jiangsu Zhejiang and Anhui provinces at the junction, is a cock in the three provinces of. For the area in the southernmost Jiangsu Province, is in southern Liyang hilly and mountainous area, it is called nanshan. There are about 35000 mu of bamboo, so has" million mu of bamboo" is called. Nanshan bamboo average temperature five degrees lower than downtown, is the land of Wu Yue, a rare summer resort!

As we all konw, there are four famous Chinese classics works : " A Dream in Red Mansions'', '' The Three Kingdoms'', '' The Journey to the West'', and the last one is ''The Water Margin ''.

The Three Kingdoms ,simply explain,is three countries(  refer to Wei ,Shu ,Wu,these three  rival powers which separated China into three parts during the period of the Three Kingdoms.) fighting each other,but  from the wars,our ancestors had sumed up a series of stratagems,ways  which suit for different fields in nowadays ,such as, science , business, military, our daily life and so on. For people ,who like Chinese history ,this is a very good book to understand China!

In 1994, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms , was film here.After this historical TV series ,the shot base left for visitors and become a tourist attractions until now, and also there are many different perfomances  (which had happened in the film  )held here everyday . for example:'' Interlocked stratagems'' , '' Three heros fighting LV Bu'', Cathay ancient music'' and so on.Especially ,the Three Kingdoms City Scenic Area hold the the second Water Splashing Festival yesterday( Dai minority from Yunan Province), and it ends 15th of Auguest! The visitors can join in the dances and activites with the Dai people!

 The Three Kingdoms City scenic area keep all the Han Dynasty architecture style buildings .It worth for people who like China old history and culture to visit!

in Yibin city ,near Gongxian and Xingwen county ,hundreds of wooden coffins were placed in caves  and precariously balanced on wooden stakes in the cliffsides .the oldest coffins date back to roughly 1000 years ,while the most recent addition was put there only about 400 years ago .
 
the coffins are attributed to the ancient Bo(僰,which was an extinct minority )people .this kind of strange burial custom is mysterious and how the coffins were get hanging on the cliff still remains unknown .
 
the Hanging Coffins(悬棺) are one of the more original sites in Sichuan .it will definitely appeal to travellers if you are looking for something a little offbeat :)

Maybe you have watched the famous movie which directed by  Ang Lee(李安) and won the Oscar foreign language film---Crouching Tiger,Hidden Dragon(卧虎藏龙). did you ever get attracted by one of its nice scene that the actors fighting over the bamboo ?and do you know where is the original place ?yes ,it is the Shunan Bamboo Sea(蜀南竹海).

Shunan Bamboo Sea(蜀南竹海) has always been considered as one of the must-see scenic spot when you go to southwest of Sichuan .
it is well-known for its numerous bamboo .it's one of the largest swaths of bamboo forest in China's southwest.guess what ,it covers a terrain of 120sq km!!amazing ,huh ?
 
the scenery spread out over crumpled hills and modest valleys ,really remarkable .30 types of bamboo are found throughout the park ,like Nan,Mao,fishpole etc..
 
best visiting time---summer ! during the slack season ,like november and december ,the transportation there will get quite inconvenient  -_- #

it may has been a boring site for the locals ,nevertheless ,maybe ,a blockbuster for you curious tourists ,especially those who want to find something fresh and brand-new ,which seldom be described in those travel books .caves

 

 

1,Geographic Location

The Xingwen Stone Forest and caves is located in Xingwen county of Yibin ,with Luzhou to the east and Yibin to the west .It is adjacent to the Shunan Bamboo Forest and covers an area of 126.4square kilometers .

2, status and reputation

It was ratified as a China national key tourist resort by the state council in 2002

It was ratified as a global geopark by the UNESCO in 2004

It has the biggest funnel on earth ,the longest sightseeing cave in China and the largest group of rocks in China

3,scenic features

The Xingwen Stone Forest and caves is well known for its vastness ,magnificence ,beauty and grace .characterized by karst landforms ,its main scenery is typical of Stone Forest and karst  caves .the queer peaks Tower imposingly ;under the ground are interconnecting karst caves ,with holes within holes .the scenery is described in the annuals of Xingwen county : “the rocks stand in great numbers ,some like edifices, some like young horned dragons, some like tigers and leopard ,all of which are in different poses and expressions ,some jumping ,some crouching, some gathering ,some scattering ,a real stunning view .”

Located 30 kilometers south of Zhongcheng town ,in Xingwen county ,Xingwen Stone Forest and caves is famous for its queer stone forest and numerous caves .featured by karst landforms ,the whole scenic area includes Tianquan cave scenic area ,the Jiusi mountain scenic area ,the Dabazongyuan （大坝综源景区）and the Zhoujiagou Karst Cave Scenic Area (周家沟溶洞景区).

 

At the rear exit of the Tianquan cave ,there are two natural karst funnels, namely the Xiaoyanwan Grand Funnel  (小岩湾大漏斗) and Dayanwan Grand Funnel (大岩湾大漏斗)the Grand Funnel.the diameter of the xiaoyanwan grand funnel is 650 meters and the sunshine can penetrate as deep as 208meters .most parts of the precipice are erect turquoise streaks ,which glimmer like silver and look like a flying waterfall .in the Middle part of the precipice ,a natural plank road ,about 2000 meters long ,connects the back exit of the Tianquan cave .the dayanwan grand funnel is located 400 meters from the xiaoyanwan grand funnel .it is about 700 meters from the west to the east and about 450 meters from north to south .and the deepest part is 230meters from the ground .it is shaped like a gourd and is connected to the Tianquan cave .both of them are larger than the American Arecipo funnel (美国阿里西波大漏斗),which is 330 meters in diameter ,70meters in depth .

 

p.s. this is just a rough introduction of this magic global geopark .if you are interested in Sichuan ,Chengdu is definitely NOT the only consideration .the southeast Sichuan ,which I mean ,the cities like Yibin and Zigong also worth exploring ,absolutely !

firstly get to Xingwen county(we local residents are used to  call it Gusong town) from Chengdu or Yibin by coach.You could get to Yibin by coach or airplane.
