The building of present-day Pacific (Jinmen) Hotel used to be the office of Hua'an Life Insurance Company, one of the largest insurance companies at that time, was built in 1926. After the liberation of Shanghai, it became Huaqiao Hotel and it was a hotel that mainly received overseas Chinese. The building is ornate in almost any component in classical Italian style. The dome fresco in the Rome Hall on 8th floor that features religious motif doesn't look glossy though, it's exclusively awe-inspiring.

Hidden inside the neighborhood of the Lane 532 of Yuyuan Garden are several exquisite houses with gardens. The dwellers now in these buildings are mostly Chinese migrants from outside Shanghai while the actual owners have moved out to new residences. Liulin Villa neighborhood was built during 1912 to 1936. Many high-ranking officers of the KMT and the leaders of the pseudo-government during the Anti-Japannese War lived here before the liberation of China. The whole neighborhood is composed of 18 buildings of two or three stories with approximately 153 proprietary households at present.

Have you heard that there is a Hutong in Shanghai. Don't say no ever since now. The only Hutong in Shanghai is located at the conjunction of Huashan Road and Yan'an Road Elevated Highway. It's called Dasheng Hutong. Constructed during 1912 to 1936 by priest Drummond who lived in Beijing before he came to Shanghai, Dasheng Hutong is composed of several lanes lined with residential houses that still bear dictinctive Shikumen style blended with Art Deco elements. Inside the neighborhood is a British-style mansion, the Drummond Garden House, which has unique Chinese roof structure.

The pagoda, called stupa in Sanskrit, usually refers to a tall and monumental structure. They are originally built to keep sacred relics of Buddha, and are located near or within a temple. The 53-meter high Zhenru Pagoda, which is translatable as Thusness Pagoda, was built in 1999. It is the first pagoda built in the last century of Shanghai’s history and is currently the landmark of Zhenru town. The multi-eave pagoda is ten stories above the ground and has an underground palace used for enshrining sacred relics of Sakamuyi. The pagoda is located on a big granite platform, leading to the ground by four staircases and surrounded by stone fences. Eight stone relief images of Bodhisattvas were carved on the external façade of the ground floor of the pagoda. A five-meter corridor has been built around the pagoda for the sake of Buddhists, who come to worship and circumambulate the pagoda. Inside the Pagoda, there are Buddha statues on each side of the walls from the 3rd layer to the top layer, as well as wooden-carvings of stories describing Sadhana’s visits of 53 masters.

The Waibaidu Bridge, known as "outer free crossing bridge" among locals, while officially called The Garden Bridge in English, is Shanghai’s landmark bridge. It is situated in the Suzhou Creek, near its confluence with the Huangpu River, connecting the famous Broadway Mansion and Astor House Hotel in the north bank of the creek and the Bund origin in the south.

The Waibaidu Bridge was built in the beginning of 1908 as a defiant to the Wills’ Bridge built earlier that collected toll for Chinese only while free-open to foreigners.

In March 2008, The old Waibaidu bridge was temporarily removed during major renovation work of Shanghai's Bund area prior to the World Expo Shanghai 2010, and was restored to the original site after its renovation in March 2009.

Oftentimes brides and grooms are found take their wedding photos in the bridge. It also appears in many movie scenes in relation to Shanghai.
 

In1931, the former owner ,Wang Boqun( was the President of Daxia University ) who built this garden for marrying his second wife- Bao Zhining who was the'' school belle'' of Daxia University( the former East  China Normal University).

It was finished in 1934, a British Victorian  garden building of Gothic style .

Right now, it is the Children's Palace of Changning District, Shanghai.
