Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area,or BDA, is situated at Yizhuang. With an area of 15.8 square kilometers, it started construction in 1992 and was approved by the State Council as the state-level economic-technological development area in August 1994. In August 2002, with the approval of State Council, BDA expanded its area with 24 square kilometers. In April 2003, the Beijing Municipal Goverment agreed to implement this expansion plan. In 2005, the State Council decided in its official reply to the Overall Urban Planning of Beijing 2004-2020 that Yizhuang will be one of the three prioritized new cities in Beijing , positioned as the center for high-tech industry development.
By the end of March 2005, 1,691 enterprises have made their home in BDA, accumulating a total investment of US$9.319 billion. With an average investment value of US$16.1 million, foreign invested-enterprises, of FIEs, make up more than 70% of BDA's total investment. What's more, 90% of total industry output valueof BDA is created by high-new techonology enterprises.
More than 80 famous multinationals, such as Nokia, GE, Corning, SMC, Cummins, Schneider, Panasonic, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation(SMIC), Fujitsu,Bayer and Daiichi Pharmaceutical have set foot in BDA. 40-strong companies from World Top 500 have set up their projects here.

The Working People's Culture Palace is located on the eastern side of Tian'anmen Rostrum. It was the Supereme Ancestral Temple for the royal family in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
It's the best-preserved and biggest ancient Ancestral worshipping temple structure in China. In the old days, it's the most important temple structure, it was called " Number one Temple in the world".
The Culture Palace covers an area of 140 thousand square meters. There are countless old Pine trees and Cypress trees in the park. It's really a good choice to relax after the visit of the Tian'anmen Square or Forbidden City. There is the southern gate on the east of Tian'anmen Rostrum. And western gate on the eastern part of the entrance to the Forbidden City.
If you don't want to cross the middle route under Tian'anmen Rostrume, you can also go to the Working People's Culture Palace , and get out from the western gate. And then, the entrance to the Forbidden City is infront of you.
On the way to the Forbidden City, if you want to avoid the crowd for the middle route.
