Of the many words used by visitors to describe Chengdu's wide and narrow lanes known as Kuanzhai, we think wonderful is amongst the best. Wonderful, describes the remodeled Hutongs, or courtyard houses of the district which are most typically indentified with Beijing. Wonderful correctly describes the architectural styles that have been most faithfully maintained, with beautiful doors, roof-lines, gardens, and the structural elements utilized by craftsmen of a time long gone by.

Wonderful equally well describes the collection of chic boutiques, eateries, souvenir, and craft shops  interlaced with bars, restaurants, hotels, and more than a fair share of red lanterns, and street performers.

Kuan, Zhai, and Jing lanes come together as Kuanzhai Alley, resulting in a not to be missed, easy to get to Chengdu City attraction. Kuanxiangzi Street being perhaps the most likey spot to be dropped off by taxi. Upon arrival you will find a large map displaying the area lay-out. Generally speaking, visitors entering from here usually stroll northwards along Kuan Alley, reach the end, and return southwards along Zhai, and then back north along Jing to exit. "Jing lane" was once known as "Well Lane" due to the old well sistuated at the western end of the alley. "Zhai" still refers to lane's narrowness, and "Kuan" means fat or wide.The noncomformists zigzag between all three main lanes by way of the many interconnecting alleys, hoping not to get too confused, but having a great time exploring this amazing place.

By day or by night, the lanes of Kuan will keep everyone busy, whether it's studying the amazing photographs, and original art framing many of the sidewalks to offer viewers images of past, and present Kuanzhai. For you, it maybe enjoying the flavours of a local speciality Dan Dan noodles, or fine dining at one of the many courtyard restaurants, or enjoying a coffee, or something a little stronger, at one of the sylized establishements with out-door seating. Still others will be intrigued by the professional "ear-cleaners" plying their trade amongst the laneways. Others come to choose from a large selection of Sichuan (Shu) embroidery available at specialty stores dotted amongst those offering high-end fasions. Many simply come to learn about, walk down, photograph, and or simply admire the historical lanes of Kuanzhai.

Hailuogou Glacier Park encloses an alpine backdrop of deep valley forested in pine and rhododendron ,with te four glaciers in question descending Gongga Mountain ( Gongga Shan, Minya Konka in Tibetan)  At 7556 m, this is western China's highest mountain, s stunning sight on the rare mornings when the near-constant cloud cover and haze of wind-driven snow above the peak suddenly clear .The park is well organized for visitors and seeing the glaciers is easy enough-- with proper equiptment and preparation, it's also possible to make a tough but extremely rewarding circuit around Gongga Shan .waterproof clothing is advisable whatever you are planning . 

Maoxian

Geographical Location : 

Maoxian is a hub to connect Aba region with big cities like Chengdu. Maoxian is also on No.213 national highway, and a key point for access to the famous cultrual heritage locations of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong 

Maoxian County town is located in Fengyi town, 193km away from Chengdu, 290 km away from Ma'erkang , the capital of Aba. 

Climate :

the climate in Maoxian is dry and windy, summer isi cool. the day and night temperature is quite different and varies with regions. it has a year-round average temperature of 11.3 º. 1545 hours of  sunshine and an annual rainfall of 486.3 mm. Because of the widely different temperature between valley and alpine region .

Native Specialties

Maoxian is endowed with diversified  native specialties for its vast territory and complicated  climate. it is wealthy in apple, Sichuan pepper, cherry, crisp green plum and traditional Chinese medicine. Handicrafts like the Qiang embroidery and trappings add more  charm to Maoxian

the staple food of Qiang People are corn, potato and buckwheat, etc. meat vegetable bean products and m any edible wide herbs serve as the supplementary food .  many snacks n this area have become specialties of hotels and restaurants in Jiuzhaigou sightseeing traffic circle and are warmly welcome by tourists . 

Leshan Museum of Cliff Tombs of the Han Dynasty is located at Mahao Cliff Tomb. Maohao Cliff Tomb Museum is a large multi-room tomb excavated in the Eastern Han Dynasty. A Buddha relief in lotus position c arved on the Cliff Tomb Door numbered Mahao No.1 is 37cm high. it is one of the earliest stone carved status of Buddhism in China and also the specific relection of the fusion of Han culture and the Buddhist culture in the earlier period of India . 

Erwang Temple 

Erwang Temple is located at the foot of Mt.Yulei Temple to commemorate Duyu, Shu king originally, moved to Pixian county during the Northern and Southern Dynasties. the original temple changed to worship Libing.

In Song Dynasty , Libing and his son were conferred on king one after another . it is  an ancient building group to enjoy great prerstige all over the country. it includes five main characteristics: firstly it covers a little area, only 10072 square meters; secondly, the building density is great, nearly 60%; thirdly , it pays a little attention to middle axis symmetry, which does not consort with the basic characteristics of the Chinese ancient buildings; fourth, height difference up and down is great, for 63 meters; fifth, the scale is magnificent and its distribution is compact . 

Lizhuang Bairou (white meat ) is a very well known  traditional dish in Sichuan province. 

cooks have to choose the appropriate proportion of the fat and thin pig meat . it also requires cooks to be very good with knife. 

the full name should be called " Lizhuang big knife garlic white meat " 

the flavour is made with : soy souce , green pepper , red pepper, Sichuan chili pepper . conala oil . chicken powder etc.

During the war while China was against Japan, Shanghai Tongji University . Central Institute , Central Museum etc .moved in Lizhuang since 1940.
many ancient architectures such as the university and folk houses are well protected.

Tradition activities

Grass dragon dance, geraniol lantern and Yangtze River dragon boat race are  traditional folk activities of Li Zhuang.

There are many snacks in Lizhuang Ancient town : such as the White Cake, the White meat ( one big piece of meat  ) , Yellow cake ( made of sticky rice with honey ) . steam cake etc.
the Yangtze River impact plain is very fertile , the soil can grow any plants , productive and rich. people have a very good life here .

JiuDingShan Taiziling Ski Resort is located in Wenchuan County in Sichuan Aba Maoxian to 213 national highway, within Jiuding Mountain Qinglong Ping, 3 hours drive from Chengdu. Resort 2750 meters above sea level, it has a 4.2 km ski trails, skiers can accommodate 5,000 passengers daily.
