It is called "the eighth wonder of the world" and is listed as the world cultural heritage by UNESCO. In March, 1974, when local farmers were digging the irrigation well, they found the underground army by chance. The warriors and horses had over 2200 years old, and 8000 pieces have been discovered in the three pits. They are not only tall in shape, but also were made precisely with accurate model and advanced techniques. Ten of thousands of unearthed real weapons which fall into complete categories are proved to be superb in technique.
Banpo Neolithic Age Museum
Banpo Museum is the first on-the-site museum in China that was discovered in 1953 accidentally
when the government building a power plant. This is a village lived by people 6,000 years ago which
is called Neolithic Age. Covering an area of 50,000 square metres, Banpo museum can be devided
into three main parts, the residential area, the burial area and the pottery-utensil-making area.
Banpo Museum was set up on the basis of the archaeological excavation in 1958, including two
exhibition rooms and a big hall that covers the village remains. There are almost 8,000 pieces
of pottery relics excavated from this site and now on display in the first exhibition room.
