Located within view of the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower was originally built in 1380. 
 
On the west and east side of the drum tower are 12 drums to mark the 24 periods of the year in the traditional farmers calendar. Inside the drum tower is a display of ancient drums from various dynasties.
 
To the south and east of the drum tower is a public park, with several popular restaurants along the side. To the north and west is the muslim area including Beiyuanmen Street and the Great Mosque of Xi’an.
