Huangshizhai is the largest viewing platform of Zhangjiajie. At an elevation of 1300 m, the platform can provide an overall panorama of the Park. A common saying goes that: “it is no avail of you trip to Zhangjiajie, unless you come to the summit of Huangshizhai.” There’s a tale about ZhangLiang (250-186 B.C.), a famous officer of the Han Dynasty. It’s said that Zhang Liang practiced Taoism here and met with a mishap, and was rescued by Huangshi Taoist, who became his master later. Thus this place was named after the Taoist. In the ancient times, many hermits lived here to avoid wars and chaos. In the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Qing Ping Temple was built over the summit by monks. In the republic of China (1911-1949), it was occupied by the mountain bandits, and none of the official troop’s attacks to conquer it succeeded. This helped to spread the fame of Huangshizhai to a further and wider extend. There are various concentrate spots along the Huangshizhai tour line, among them, the Treasure Case of Heavenly Books, the Magic Sea-suppressing Needle, the Southern Pillar of Heaven, the Front Garden, and the Golden Tortoise Watching the Sea, etc. Sunrise is another splendid view in Huangshizhai. Tourists can start from the front gate to climb to Huangshizhai, and it takes nearly 90 minutes to the summit; or they can take the ropeway which costs eight minutes to reach the summit. The Yaozizhai stands just facing Huangshizhai, with numerous peaks rising as forests. There are over one hundred scenery spots such as Flyover, Rock Surge Tower, Eagle Beak, Fairy Cave, Spears Rock, Pointing Mountains and Waters and so on. It is full of interests of wildness and an ideal place for camping.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park was established by the State Council in 1982 as the first National Forest Park of China. It was listed into the World Heritage Directory by UNESCO in 1992, and in 2004, Zhangjiajie was listed as a UNESCO Global Geopark. It is among the first scenery spots that were recognized as the China’s Class AAAAA Scenery Spots in 2007. Two years later, it was awarded as the National Civilized Scenic Tourism Area.
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is known for its unique cliff mountains, deep valleys and the greenery woods. The splendid sceneries crown the park as “three thousand peaks, and eight hundred miles of clean water”, thus it is praised as the “expanded bonsai, and the shrinked heaven.” It is also famous for abundant animal and plant resources. Its forest coverage rate reaches to 98%. An extraordinary biological treasure and natural oxygen bar, it is entitled as the “Nature Museum” and “Nature Botanical Garden”. Animals and plants breed and grow with the peaks and waters together, forming a perfect natural ecological system in the park.
Zhangjiajie is in the subtropical climate zone. The mountains and valleys and the lush forests form there a unique small forest climate. As an ideal summer resort, the average annual temperature in the Park is 12.8℃, and the average maximum temperature in the summer is 16.8℃. The Park has currently developed four scenic areas including Huangshizhai, Yaozizhai, Golden Whip Brook and Yuanjiajie, and six tour lines involving 468 viewing spots (platforms).

Tianmen Mountain Cablecar is at the city center of Zhangjiajie, it's the world longest  mountains cablecar in the world (7455m). Starting at the bottom near Zhangjiajie train and bus station, to the highest spot of Zhangjiajie 1500m. the vertical difference is 1277m. The angle for the steepest part is 37 degree, it's rare in the world.

The total No. of carriage is 98 (from Switzerland) holding by the 57 supporting pillars .constructed by POMA which is a very famous company for cablecar manufacture. The cost of daily running is 30.000RMB.

Where there is a mountain, there is water, and where a beautiful mountain exists, one can also find attractive water. The mountain .gives rise to the water, and the water is the mountains life-blood. The mountain is more splendid as it reflects the mountain. Gracious people enjoy the mountains, and wise ones relish the water. We cant regard them kind women if they find no interest in majestic mountains, neither consider them good men who have no taste for graceful waters.

Baofeng Lake is a veritable place of graceful mountains and charming waterway and for all the kind ,good gracious and wise people. Baofeng Lake .is such a paradise that you would like to visit again and again, whether you have been here or not. Located in the high gorges, a body of crystalline and calm water is surrounded by the emerald mountains. The lake is situated part way up the mountain range, 85 meters above the ground, and attains an altitude of 585 meters. Because of its association with the Baofeng Mountain Range, the lake bears the name of Baofeng. With an average depth of 72 meters, Baofeng Lake covers an area of 15 hectares, and can hold 6 million cubic meters of water at full capacity. This water is produced by rainfall, mountain springs and underground streams, and .stays emerald all year around, so it is reputed as Paradise in the Human World. Beautiful scenery in this area include: Baofeng Waterfall, Stone Gate Welcoming Guests, Peacock Displaying Colorful Tail, and Golden Toad Biting the Moon, Fairy Lady Reflected in the Lake and so on.

Baofeng lake situated in Suoxiyu Natural Reserve, it seats in the half way of eagle mountain, but not a natural lake. in 1970’s people fill the small faults of the lake with concrete to store water and .water level come up and beautiful lake takes shape, boat tour in the lake gives a lot of fun with the folk songs by girls in the boat, the tourists are expected to interact with the folk song girls by crossing singing, permanent waterfall at the entrance is a wonder.

Zhangjiajie Folk Custom-Western charm Grand Theatre, is a long history of theater in the Zhangjiajie Scenic Area.It was founded in March 2001, after eight years of development, has gradually become a world famous brand of cultural tourism.It can accommodate 1080 people in the performing arts field, located in Zhangjiajie Zhangjiajie Scenic Area: World Natural Heritage and Geological Park, China's first national forest park.Show various forms of ethnic culture and folk customs of Zhangjiajie:Singing love songs and Wedding crying and The traditional Hand-waving Dance and Xiangxi ganshi and Zhangjiajie Hard Qigong and so on.

High lantern, different from what its name implies, is a kind of dance full of ethnic flavor popular in Yuanguping of Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City. Generally speaking, 12 to 14 people orabove are required to present a single performance. Performers are often equipped with various instruments when performing, such as cornets, cymbals, suona and drum. Besides, each performer is wearing a puppet-like hat and carrying apaper lantern with two lighting candles within while dancing is staged. Interms of the performance itself, there is a rigid pattern for each movement from beginning to end. For example, a movement should rise from the east and fall to the west. This kind of dance is categorized into two groups, namely,wishing lantern and public lantern. The former is designed to send best wishes and fulfill promises whereas the latter, subject to outside performance in the forms of yelling and whistling, is designed only for public appreciation.

Nearly half of the total population of Zhangjiajie city is minorities. It’s over 700,000. There are the Tujias, the Bais and the Miaos. In addition, there are some Huis, Mans, Tongs and the Yaos.
The Tujia
There are various stories about the origin of this tribe. But one thing is clear--- the Tujias has a long history. It is a hard-working and brave ethnic group. Shange is Tujias’ favorite folk literature. It includes love poems, war poems and labor poems, i.e. The Tujia is also a versatile nationality. The traditional Hand-waving Dance and Xi Lan Ka Pu (a kind of colorful bed cover) are regarded as the best preferable part of Tujias’ art.

The Bai
The Bais are distributed mainly in Dali, Yunnan Province. They have a grand traditional festival: “Dali March Street” which hold from March 15 to March 30 in lunar calendar. And the Rao San Ling, a folk carnival, hold from April 23 to April 25 in lunar calendar.The Bais in Sangzhi County, Zhangjiajie, migrated from Dali, but their tradition and convention haven’t changed.

The Miaos
The Miaos are distributed mainly in Guizhou, Hunan, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi and Hainan. They are also among the ancient ethnic groups with a long history. The Miaos are good at singing and dancing. Their Lusheng Dance as well as Bench Dance and Monkey Drum Dance are given high praise by the tourists from home and abroad.

From historical records we learn that the magical Qigong of Zhangjiajie was invented by Cuiguzi; hence it bears the name Guigu Qigong.
Zhangjiajie enjoys a high reputation as County of Hard Qqigong, especially in Guanliping village at the foot of Tianmen Mountain. It is the order of the day for men and women, young and old to practice this style of Qigong. Among the practitioners, a man by the name of Zhao Jishu was awarded first prize in the National Martial Arts Competition in 1979. Thus honored, he accompanied some central governmental leaders for visits to Luxembourg was effusive in his praise for this international Qigong master and said this international Qigong master is real something. A Frenchman exclaimed that Chinese Hard Qigong displays true science and is a treasure shared by all humanity.
As for the performances, they usually involve lying face down on sharp steel forks, among other amazing displays. Though the performances are exciting and well worth watching, I am afraid that they might be a bit too stimulating for some people. It was reported that during Zhao Jishus demonstration in Luxembourgs national theatre, two elderly ladies became terrified and fainted.

Zhangjiajie Great Canyon Glass Bridge will be finished and opened in May 2016,it's the world highest (430m) and longest (400m)glass bridge of the world. The entry ticket price is not known yet. Hope it's not that high, and most people will be happy to experience this world new wonder.
