The core scenic area of Baofeng Lake covers the whole lake surface which is 2.5 kilometers in length, with a width of 200m to 1000m, and an average depth of 72m. It is the only scenic area with the water as its scenes in the area of Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage. Baofeng Lake is located among the mountains, receiving natural waters all over the mountains. The water is pure and clean, free of pollution, thus it is awarded as “Holy Lake”. Around the lake stand dozens of cliff and steep sandstone mountains. If one boats to the center of the lake, one can feast one’s eyes with the reflection of tress and peaks over the mirror-like lake surface that forms a splendid and wonderful landscape painting with charm and artistic conception. There are over twenty scenic spots including One-line-sky, Plank Road over the Clouds, Yingwozhai, and South Sea and so on. It is especially famous for Baofeng Waterfall which falls from a height of over one hundred meters and hangs down the mountain as a white curtain, as sound as the thunders. It was taken as the natural performance set of Zhangjiajie International Festival of Forest Protection and appeared for several times on CCTV and Hunan TV, which made it one of the ideal places for visitors home and abroad. At present, it is the show place of “Soul of Wulin-TIMA God Song”.

Baofeng Lake is 2 kilometers south of Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve. There is a deep and serene valley and the pellucid lake reflects a picture of verdant mountains. Here, the lake and the mountains serve as a foil to each other. The most distinctive spots include Gaoxia Pinghu (lake on the high gorge), Yingwo Guzhai ( the ancient village), Juebi Feipu (the waterfall on the cliff) and Yixiantian Valley (narrow valley). In 2003, it was ranked as AAAA tourist spot in China.

Baofeng Lake is a veritable place of graceful mountains and charming waterways for all the kind, gracious and wise people. Baofeng Lake is such a paradise that you will want to visit it again and again. Located in the high gorges, a body of crystalline and calm water is surrounded by emerald mountains. The lake is 85 meters above the ground, and attains an altitude of 585 meters. Because of its association with the Baofeng Mountain Range, the lake bears the name of Baofeng. With an average depth of 72 meters, Baofeng Lake covers an area of 15 hectares, and it has a capacity of 6 million cubic meters of water. This water is produced by rainfall, mountain springs and underground streams, and as it remains emerald colour all year around, it is reputed to be Paradise in the Human World. Beautiful scenery in this area includes: Baofeng Waterfall, Stone Gate Welcoming Guests, Peacock Displaying Colorful Tail, Golden Toad Biting the Moon, Fairy Lady Reflected in the Lake and so on.

       Laodao Bay, located in Guanliping, Yongding district, Zhangjiajie is a newly developed scenic spot and resort which is 

near  to Tianmen mountain forest park. There are numerous wild trees and flowers. The crystal clear stream twists down

from the  mountain top with many shrimps and crabs in it. It is really awesome to enjoy the fresh air, do hiking, search crabs

under  stones and do family barbecue even stay a whole night in the villa built on the cliff. It is a really good choice for hikers

In the ancient time , Zhangjiajie old route bay (or old Taoist bay ) was called Shangguan secluded valley.It is located in Ganziping village,about 8 kilometers away from Zhangjiajie downtown.With the area of over 9 thousand acres=600 hectares.Charming for green forest layers and stream crossing and neat waterfalls.There are three touring lines for tourist.

Eastern line:Guigu (a famous Taoist master with great kongfu and knowledge) valley.

Junsheng,the founder of Sand tone painting,was born in 1963.He created the painting when he was 20.He is 50 years old now.A completely Tujia nationality man from Western Hunan--Zhangjiajie city.A member of China artist association and  the only painter who receives special state allowance.

During school time, sometimes ,he was too poo to buy expensive  materials.In a casually experience,masons decorate wall with sand and broken stone.It looks very good! So, it inspired his creation.Later, his first work was successfully created.He and his peculiar painting was more and more famous from that time on.Many international media organizations, and domestic ones such as CCTV,Hong Kong Television,Taiwan Television,Peple’s Daily, and China Tourism Daily have all done special reports about Junsheng' works.

The first special of Junsheng sandstone painting are materials:They are powder of sand and stone,bark of plants,reed,staw,fur skin etc.All of them are natural and environmental protection.The sand and stone are from river ,cave of Zhangjiajie.After gethering,grind,drying,separating,painter use hands to draw instead of penbrush.powder fall with painter's conception and land on painter's composition.Painer's hands draw with imaginations opening.

As a Tujia guy,grown up among amazing mountains as Tianzi mountain,Tianmen mountain,Golden whip stream etc.He was deeply affected by hometown's scenery.Also, he want them to be more famous alone his peculiar sandstone painting.His exhibitions have been held in Macao,USA,Japan and France.Some of his works were collected by the Great Hall of People.
