Prince Gong's Mansion is not wide, and it has the likelihood seems to be an idle of natural and plain. The plaque ,"garden of Prince Gong " wrote by PuJie which looks delicate, elegant and simple. A red lanterns lintel add flavor of Chinese festival.And there is also a plaque for the protection of cultural relics. Into the door, there are a line of lantern ,let us remind of feasting . Follow the steps of visitors, along the beautiful and refined drockery. The trees of cascade mountains, green our skirt. And mountain basin floret open with its own dreams, show their best appearance, red, white, simple but elegant, gorgeous.It attractive our eyes into the holes, imagine the palpitation inside .

When visiting some Buddhism Monasteries in Lijiang,be aware of the trick played by the fake Monks!

Such kind of monasteries usually located in the tourist attractions, the "Monk" will welcome you to come inside,and give you incense first,ask you to pray to the Buddha status,then may give you something for "gift",most of the time could be a wooden bracelet. Finally,they will ask you to donate a big amount of money into the donation box. The two notorious Monastery,one is to the right of the Five Phenix Pavillion in Black Dragon Pool Park of Lijiang,the other one is on a mountain called Xionggu Gateway,which is halfway from Lijiang to Tiger Leaping Gorge,where most tourists will stop there for sometime to see the view of the big snow Mountain and the Yangtze River.

Wuzhen is one of the ancient water towns on the Hangzhou to Beijing Canal, with a history of over 1,200 years. In 1991, Wuzhen was authorised as the Provincial Town of History and Culture, so ranking it first amongst the six ancient towns south of the Yangtze river.

Wuzhen, and life within the old town, is little different today, then it was 500 years ago, only the people have changed.

Fortunately Wuzhen has not yet surrendered totally to the  almighty tourism dollar, and the town retains its history and culture. It is indeed, a living piece of Chinese history.

Unfortunately it also has its pollution problems but efforts are underway to address these issues. As an Australian resident of this peaceful town, the green/grey water is difficult to accept, but unfortunately, this is the colour of most rivers in this, and increasingly, more parts of China.

Wuzhen has two old town areas “Dong Zha” (East) and  “Xi Zha” (West). What’s the difference? The East old town area is still lived in  as it has been for more than 1,000 years.

The advantage of this, is that visitors can see people, working and living, as they have for generations. The disadvantage, is that many of these homes need renovation work, as some slowly sink into disrepair.

The West old town area is a tourist town, totally restored to its original elegance, and showing the full glory of 1,000 years of history and culture.

Which to see? See them both; they each have their own special charm.

 History Everywhere

No matter where you wander in the old town areas, east or west, the visitor is surrounded by history. After more than one thousand years, there are many secrets and surprises for the intrepid traveller.

Along with access to the many museums on site, granted via the entrance ticket; the visitor to the old town area can simply poke around, to uncover a wealth of ancient charm and history, everywhere they walk, including what must be one of the world’s largest woks.

There are still people on site, creating silk thread and cloth, the same way their ancestors have, for hundreds of years. If your stomach is ready, you can try the local fermented rice spirits, definitely designed to wake up the most frozen toes on a cold winter’s day.

Both old town areas are full of eateries and craft shops, plying their wares, as they have for many centuries. A visit to the old towns is not just to look at the beautiful old buildings and canals; although they alone are worth the visit; but to  experience a way of life still existing today, as it has for centuries.

The Longqingxia Ravine is located, 85 kilo meters away form downtown, in the river mouth of Gucheng River 10 kilometers away from the Gucheng village in Yanqing County. It has been a local attraction since the Song Dynasty. The Emperor Renzong of Yuan Dynasty was born near here then he named this place Longqing Prefecture to commemorate his birthplace. This recreational site is part of the reservoir on the Gucheng River. The reservoir was fiist built in 1973 and finished in 1981. The dam was built in 1981. The reservoir covers 119 square kilometers and can hold 8,500,000 stere water. From 1987, Longqingxia Ravine holds ice lantern festival annually with different themes so that people can enjoy beautiful ice lanrerns and sculptures. It’s also a good skating resort. There are also many historical spots around which you can explore and have fun. Boats are available the rest of the year for tourists to view the natural scenes of the valley, which are inaccessible by other modes of travel. Some say the scenery can be compared to Lijiang in Guilin and the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. There is a temple built in 1639 along the water’s edge. At one time there were images of the founders of Confucianism, Buddhism and Daoism there. Beside them is a famous pond, the bottom of which can be seen through clear water over one meter deep. There are nine old cypress trees on the cliff behind, one called the “magic king of trees” with its trunk extending way beyond the edge of the cliff. The only way to the ravine is by boat along the reservoir at the present time. It is possible to rent a tent and stay at the foot of the hill overnight. The next morning you can hike to Songshan Forest Park for a change of scene.
