The main structure of the China Pavilion, "The Crown of the East," has a distinctive roof in the style of traditional dougong or bracket, a structural component fixed layer upon layer between the top of a column and a crossbeam. This unique component of interlocking wooden brackets is one of the most important elements in traditional Chinese architecture, dating back nearly 3,000 years in the Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC-467 BC).

l l A cheerful excursion by train brings you into a trip to appreciate the great wisdom and achievements in China's urban development from ancient to modern times.
The enlarged and animated movie version of the timeless scroll of “Riverside Scene at the Qingming Festival” (12th century, by Zhang Zeduan), takes visitors upstream to the climax of classical Chinese cities, whose life and culture is well illustrated by 40 refined heritage objects. The movie scroll, sized 128 meters in length and 6.5 meters in height, keeps changing the scenes between diurnal and nocturnal scenes at intervals of 2 minutes. There are 691 figures and 377 figures, all active, who appear respectively in these two scenes.

“It’s soon, just a few pieces.”
This is the type of conversation I can often hear when I am standing by Wang’s cart. Tonight I am on my way back home from work and the familiar smell from his cart attracts me to it again. Wang is always busy at that time. It’s 11:00 on a chilling evening in Winter , believe it or not?
Wang’s business is making Jianbin Guozi, a Tianjin styled pancake roll. Jianbin refers to Chinese pancake rolls which originated in Shandong while Guozi, as Tianjian people call it, stands for deep-fried flour sticks. But now it has become one of the most popular snacks in Beijing, or even around the country.
“I want to have one with sausage and preserved vegetable shreds”. A passing taxi driver pulls up his car and joins us. In effect, like every other sort of food from outside the city, the pancake roll has also undergone the process of being localized for Beijing. The main ingredients of an authentic Jianbin Guozi made in Tianjin are millet batter, egg, deep-fried flour stick, green onion and sweet flour sauce with coriander, sesame, and chili sauce as optional seasonings. The most visible difference between the pancake rolls in Beijing and the ones originally in Tianjin is that a thin sheet of deep-fried flour is put in a pancake roll as filling rather than a stick of deep-fried flour.
“What do you want to have in yours?”, Wang asks me. It now comes to my turn. “I want the normal one, and no spice please”, I answer.
“It’s three Kuai”Wang says.
It costs about a bit more than a one-way subway fare in Beijing, which partly explains why the pancake roll is so popular with working people. If a person wants a snack that is cheap, quick, delicious and heavy enough to fill the stomach, there is probably no better option than a piece of Jianbin Guozi.
It is fun to watch how my meal is made. A scoop of millet batter is firstly put on the pan. Then Wang uses a roller to get the round pan evenly covered by the flour. When the flour sheet gets almost solid, it is the time to break the egg and drop it on the sheet. Once again a roller is needed to disperse the egg. Right after that, Wang turns the flour sheet upside down using a spatula and dusts the sesame on. Following the spreading of sweet sauce is the scattering of green onion bits and coriander. Then, after a piece of deep-fried flour sheet is put atop, the last step is only to fold up the whole pancake and get it tucked into a little plastic bag. Here I get my lovely night delicacy.
“How many pieces ahead”, another young man comes to ask.
“Only two. Soon”, Wang replies without looking up.
“I want two”, the man says.
“Hi, honey. Mine is no spice”, a young lady is shouting opposite the street from a car.
Wang has his cart parked beside one of the busiest streets in the city late every evening when the local police are at their least active. But Wang is never alone. You may have to wait for your turn to get a pancake roll. For those people who still move outside at night, a piece of Jianbin Guozi is hardly resisitable for a pretty good night snack.

Day 02Beijing (B L)-- Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Beijing Zoo
After breakfast at your hotel, start your tour with the visit to Tiananmen Square(40minutes), the largest public square in the world. Then move on to the Forbidden City(2hours), the Chinese imperial palace from the mid-Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty.

Then move on to Beijing zoo(1.5hours), which is one of the oldest zoos in China and has one of the largest animal collections in the country. The zoo and its aquarium has over 450 species of land animals and over 500 species of marine animals. In all, it is home to 14,500 animals. More than six million visitors come to the zoo each year. The zoo was founded in 1906 during the late Qing Dynasty. Like many of Beijing's parks, the zoo's grounds resemble classical Chinese gardens, with flower beds amidst natural scenery, including dense groves of trees, stretches of meadows, small streams and rivers, lotus pools and hills dotted with pavilions and historical buildings.
Day 03 Beijing ( B L )--Mutianyu Great Wall, Olympic Green, outside look the Bird's Nest and Water Cube, Shaolin kungfu school
Morning excursion to the most beautiful section of the Great Wall - the Mutianyu Great Wall. The hike takes about 2-3 hours. After lunch at Chinese Restaurant, Then head to the Olympic Green to have an outside look at the Bird's Nest and Water Cube(1hour). Shaolin Kung Fu is a huge scientific system, not the general sense of the "branches" or "boxing kinds". Chinese martial arts enjoy a huge structure complex with many branches, among which shaolin kung fu has the dominant place by its long history, the complex system and excellent technology boundary. Back to your hotel.
Day 04 Beijing-Xi'an( B L )
Hands-on D.I.Y Chinese dumplings(2hours) at the local family in Gaobeidian, enjoy these with other Chinese dishes and this will be your Lunch. Afternoon learn the Art of paper cutting, visit the gaobeidian school. After the tour, we go to the train station to Xian. Overnight on the train.
Day 05 Xian ( B L )--Big Wild Goose Pagoda square, Muslim Bazaar, Xi'an City Wall
Arrive in Xian, pick up. Breakfast at hotel. The Muslim Bazaar, the Muslim quarters lies 100 meters west of the Bell tower in downtown Xi'an.The 500 meters long avenue paved by bluestones are dotted with many unique stall,souvenir shop,coffee and bars which are mostly run by Muslim people. We visit massive Xian City Wall. Have a nice walk in the North Square to view the fully illuminated Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Musical Fountain Performance.
Day 06 Xian ( B L )-- Qin Terracotta Army, Shaanxi Historical Museum
Morning pick up by local guide. Enjoy your full day visit to the Qin Terracotta Army, one of the world's most important archaeological finds, with troops, horses and carriages in battle formation. Afternoon, visit the Shaanxi Historical Museum. Among the 400,000 items on display are treasures from many of the Dynasties, including some magnificent bronzes and porcelain, many of which have never been on permanent display before.
Day 07 Xian--shanghai ( B L )
Visit Bell tower and Drum tower. Farmer paintings, and learning the painting. Then go to airport to catch a flight. Pick up by shanghai local guide, only transfer to hotel.
Day 8 Shanghai ( B L )-- Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, the Bund
Breakfast at hotel. Visit Jade Buddha Temple. Jade Buddha Temple is a key temple in Shanghai that thriving with flows of disciples every day, especially on the 1st and 15th day of every lunar month as well as all the traditional Buddhism festivals. Visit pearl factory, it's a nice place to buy a necklace or bracelet. It is very good gift from China. Visit the lovely old Yuyuan Garden look nine zig zag bridge with golden fish pond, bridges and pavilions. Explore the Bund in the evening.
Day 9 Shanghai ( B L )--Shanghai Museum, People Square, Nanjing Road, Oriental Pearl TV tower, Children's Palace
The Shanghai Museum which is the largest museum of ancient Chinese art in Shanghai. Visit the People Square and Nanjing Road for shopping. Visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower 2nd level. Visit the Children��s Palace 30-45minutes.
Day 10 Shanghai ( B )
Your China Experience is over all too soon as you transfer to the airport and board the homebound international flight, bidding a fond farewell to this ancient land.
