Longji rice terrace is located in the northwest part of Guilin city. It’s about 2.5hours drive from Guilin city to Longji rice terrace at Ping’an village parking lot. Longji rice terrace is hidden in the route mountain area which with an elevation of 300meters to 1100meters. Longji rice terrace is digged and built by the local Yao minority people and Zhuang Minority people start from 13 century to the end of 19 century with a history of 650years.

Due to the tough natural environment and behindhand agricultural technology, All of the rice terraces are made by hand by the local people for generations. All of the rice terraces are built on the slope of the mountain range.The rice terrace wrapped around the mountain slope from the mountain bottom to the summit of the mountain which look like numbers of silks and ribbons while see afar. Especially, In spring season, While all of the rice terraces are flooded with water. The rice terraces are just like numerous mirrors by their reflection. In Summer season, You will see the rice terrace just like layered green grassland. In Autumn season, you will see the golden rice terraces which truly terrific. In winter season, You will see the silver rice terraces just like covered with cotton. Hence, The rice terrace is one of the remarkable sights in Guilin area.

Besides the outstanding rice terrace landscape, It’s also fascinating to discover the local ethnic minority people’s culture, such as their typical construction, costume, diet, custom, tradition,daily people’s life while wander around the local village etc.

As to hiking route in Longji rice terrace at Ping’an village. There are two view points in Longji rice terrace. View point one also called nine dragons and fiver tigers. View point two also called seven stars with the moon. Because view point two is earlier to get there from the parking lot(Ping’an village entrance), So most of tourists especially many Chinese tour groups could hike up to view point two. View point one is more far and more challenged to reach than view point two. So, there are not too many tour groups means less tourists. But normally, View point one provide a much better view of the rice terrace as well as Ping’an village from there due to its higher position. So, There are some popular hiking routes in Longji rice terrace base on above introduction.

Hiking route one:
Hiking start from the parking lot(Ping’an village entrance) – Ping’an village(Pass by) – View point two - Ping’an village – Parking lot

Hiking route two:
Hiking start from the parking lot – Ping’an village – View point two – Hike to View point one through a paved mountain path – hike down to Ping’an village- Parking lot.

Hiking route three:
Hiking start from the parking lot – Ping’an village – View point one - Hike to View point two through a paved mountain path – Ping’an village – Parking lot.

If you have physical problem(Included disease,knee problem, fat shape,etc), If you also want to enjoy the wonderful rice terrace landscape, Then,there are another solution for you.

The local people built a paved road from the parking lot to View point one which take 5minutes drive. If you are not able to do the hiking trip, Then you may request the driver take you up to view point one,Then you could see the rice terrace landscape from view point one directly without taking 1hour hiking up to the view point one through the steep stone steps. If you would like to do some limited hiking, You can also hike down to Ping’an village or hike to view point one then down to the village before arrive the parking lot. It’s also a good solution.

Of course, If you stay two nights in Ping’an village, There are more hiking trips you could consider to do.

Hiking route A: Ping’an village – Longji old Zhuang village – Ping’an village
Since there is a old Zhuang people’s village with many well preserved houses named Longji old Zhuang village near to Ping’an village, It’s about 40minutes hiking from Ping’an village with downhill path to Longji old Zhuang village.After hang around Longji old Zhuang village,Then you can hike back to Ping’an village

Hiking route B: Ping’an village – Dazhai village
From Ping’an village To Dazhai village, It’s about 20km and 4-5hours hiking through a up and down mountain trail. It’s a more difficult hiking trip with a lot of challenge. But if you are quite fit, energetic and keen on outdoor activity, This hiking trip is just for you. Attention, If it’s rainy,The hiking trail could be more muddy and slippery. It become more dangerous to do the hiking trip. It’s better to skip it. It’s better just do some hiking trips nearby Ping’an village.

Longshen hot spring – A highlighted tourist attraction in Guilin!

While talking about Longshen county, Most of tourists could immediately think of Longji rice terrace due to the remarkable terraced rice fields which built from the riverside to the top of the mountain along the slope of the mountain.

Actually, Except the magnificent rice terraces in Longshen,There is another very famous sights also worth to mention in Longshen county. That's Longshen Hot spring. It's the most famous and popular hot spring in Guilin area so far. If you have more time during you visit Longji rice terraces, it’s really a good chance to pay a visit to Longshen hot spring. You will never feel regret.

It's 60km and almost 1.5hour drive from Longji rice terraces(Ping'an village),Longshen hot spring hide in the remote mountain which covered by the lush forest. The road from Longshen county seat to Longshen hot spring go along a river valley,These magnificent mountains surround the road and make it very peaceful and tranquil. There are some local Yao minority villages located at the slope of the mountain, These wooden houses with typical style are really impressive.

The hot spring actually just located at the entrance of Longshen national forest park, it operated and controlled by the local tour company at present. There are one Boutique resort and two hotels built in the hot spring scenic spot. Tourists need to pay the entrance tickets before went into the hot spring scenic spot. But if you stay in one of their hotels,It's possible to use the hot spring pool without paying the toll.

There are almost ten hot spring pools were built at the bottom of mountain next to the Resort. The hot spring water just flow into these water pool through a couple of steel pipes. The temperature of the hot spring water is begin from 58 centigrade to 45 centigrade. It's very comfortable to take a bath or make a water Spa in the hot spring pool. Because the hot spring water contains lots of trace elements, Such as lithium, strontium, iron, manganese, zinc, copper and others. So, it's very good for the skin and body. It's really a good place for relaxing and recovering after a tired trip.

How to get there
Tourists can get to Longshen bus station from Guilin bus station firstly, Then switch to another local bus from Longshen bus station and get to the hot spring scenic spot. It's 118km and 2.5hours drive by bus from Guilin to Longshen bus station,It's 32km and 30minutes drive from Longshen bus station to Longshen hot spring.

The evening show of "Impression Sanjie Liu" was performed at the world's largest landscape theatre. The world-famous director zhang yimou who had successfully directed the opening and closing ceremonies of 2008 Beijing Olympic Game acted as the general director, he spent three and a half years to completed such a huge project and it became a new highlight in China's tourist circle. The total investment reached up to 300 million Yaun, the stage took 12 peaks as its background and stretched 2 Km into the Li River, finally constituted the world's largest natural theatre on the Li River.

The performance was based on a widely known folktale of Sanjie Liu, who was considered as the Muse of the Zhuang People, it successfully annotated the harmonious relationship between man and nature, created a realm of " man is an integral part of nature" and it was reputed as "the masterpiece that cooperated with god". It's the combination of folkways, ethnic songs and fishing lights on the Li River, with high-tech to got the whole picture of the lifestyle of the Zhuang, Yao, Miao and Dong peoples lived in this region.

The evening show takes the color of red, white, silvery and yellow as its main tone to create the different scenes of spring, summer, autumn and winter, by using the high-tech to produce the inconceivable haze effect and visual effect, from a new Angle to sublime Guilin's landscape, it's the feast of hearing and watching.

It's said that about 800 performers involved in the show, wearing various of national garments with many silver ornaments on it, they were singing and dancing accompanied with melodic music, sing the praises of their perfect life. The performance focus on the resources of Guangxi's music, natural scenery and folk custom , by seeing the performance, but also see the people's daily life of the LI River.

The theatre sits at the confluence of the Li River and Tianjia River, the greening rate here reaches of more than 90 percent, the light system and the audio system are invisible designed, the theatre equips with 2200 seats, including ordinary seats 2000, VIP seats 180 and President seats 20. During the peak season, all the seats are occupied by the tourists, you have to book the ticket at least a day beforehand.

Day5 Chengyang---Zhaoxing in Guizhou Province. Nightstay in Zhaoxing.
Morning, Drive to Zhaoxing crossing the border between Guangxi and Guizhou Province for a tour in the biggest Dong village in China. When get to Tang’an village located on the top of mountain, we could hike down to Zhaoxing, and meet our van at the foot. Day6 Zhaoxing--Congjiang---Biasha. Nightstay in Congjiang.

One day tirp to Bajiao Zhai, a noticeable Danxia Landform.

This is a tailor-made trip for nature-lovers and fans of photography. Danxia rock formation in the inland basin is a red rock debris, and later uplift due to the movement of the earth-crust, erosion of rocks by the water and weathering, which was dominant in the hillside to collapse back, kept down the rocks to form the red mountain block. This area was listed in the Natural Heritage of the world in 2009 by UNESCO. Bajiao Zhai Village is a combination of strategic place, steepy mountian, elegant scenery and secluded remote. It is reputed as the "Soul of Danxia Landform". Here you can enjoy the sunrise or sunset and the sea-cloud. 1. I'll pick you up at 8:00 am in your hotel, and transfer to Bajiao Zhai Village by our private van. On the way, you can enjoy some terraced fields, bamboo groves and the wooden residences of the natives.(3.5 hours by ride) 2. First, we'll visit the village and have lunch in the village, and then we'll hike the mountains, the scenery including the group of snails looking up the sky, the ancient trail, Eye-stone, Joss stick of dragon's head and the Treasured sword Peak.(4 hours by hike) 3. D 2. Wulingyuan Scenic Area: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Golden WhipBrook, Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain)

This day you are heading to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Wulingyuan Scenic Area. The first main attraction in the park that you will visit is Golden Whip Brook. It covers a distance of 7.5 km from north to south, winding across mountains and valleys. The brook is limpid through the year, with many scenic spots along the way. Then you will take Bailong elevator (1,070 ft. glass elevator) go up to Yuanjiajie Senic Area. You will visit Greatest Natural Bridge, Enchanting Terrace and Heaven Pillar. Heaven Pillar is AVATAR Mountain. The movie AVATAR was shot here. Enjoy Hallelujah Mountain. In the afternoon, you are going to Tianzi Mountain by tourist car. You will see Xihai,Helong Park, Imperial Writing Brush Peaks, Fairy Dispersing Flowers, etc.

D 3: Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge (The world's longest and highest glass bridge) -- Tianmen Mountain (the longest cable car of the world, glass skywalk)

In the morning, you will go to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon for seeing the highest and longest glass bridge in the world. It's about 50 minutes driving distance from Wulinyuan. Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge (also called Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge) is a bridge located in Zhangjiajie, China, above the Wulingyuan area. The bridge, built as an attraction for tourists, is glass-bottomed and is transparent. It is the longest and tallest glass bottomed bridge in the world. The bridge, opened to the public on 20 August 2016, measures 430 meters in length and 6 meters in breadth, and is suspended about 300 meters above the ground. The bridge spans the canyon between two mountain cliffs in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, Hunan, China. After finished the glass bridge then you will go to Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park. Your heart will beat fast on the world’s longest cable car at Tianmen Mountain. You will do the glass skywalk. It is a suspended glass walkway almost a mile (1,430 meters) above the ground. It built at the cliff-side of Tianmen mountain. You will take an eco-friendly bus driving on the ‘99 Bends’ mountain road.

D 4: Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang (Phoenix Ancient Town)

Driving to Fenghuang from Zhangjiajie on highway in the morning (It takes 3.5 hours). You could take a boat ride on Tuo River and appreciate the beautiful river and the ancient town. Walking up and down both sides of Tuo River and enjoying the harmonious atmosphere in the ancient town. Get relax while watching the rows of traditional wooden houses built on stilts and looking at what the local people do. At night you will see the different beautiful view of the town. You will see the gorgeous lit up buildings and bridges.

D 5: Fenghuang to Longji Rice Terraces (Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces)

Driving to Longji Rice Terraces from Fenghuang in the morning (It takes about 6 hours. It is 370 km between these two places by car). Longji Rice Terraces also names Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces. It located in Longji Town, Longsheng County, Guilin City, Guangxi Province. It's the most popular attraction in Guangxi province, China.The terraced fields are built along the slope winding from the riverside up to the mountain top, between 600 to 800 metres (2,000 to 2,600 ft) above sea level. A coiling terrace line that starts from the mountain foot up to the mountain top divides the mountain into layers of water in spring, layers of green rice shoots in summer, layers of rice in fall, and layers of frost in winter. The terraced fields were mostly built about 650 years ago. Longji Rice Terraces consists of 3 main parts. They are Rice Terraces of Ping'an Village, Rice Terraces of Jingken Dazhai Village and Rice Terraces of Longji Ancient Zhuang Village. You will take a cable car up to the mountain top for getting a panoramic view of the rice terraces in Dazhai village. And you will also visit Ping'an Village as well.

D 6: Yangshuo: Yulong River

Driving to Yangshuo county from Longshen county for seeing Yulong River (It takes 4 hours). You will take a bamboo raft to do the rafting on Yulong River. It's the perfect way to enjoy the beauty area of the mountain and water.

You also have an option of taking a helicopter for seeing the best part of Yulong River area from a god view.

At the end of the tour, your driver will drop you off at Guilin Airport or train stations in Guilin (or Yangshuo) or your hotels in Yangshuo county or Guilin. (Depends on your requirement)
