Established in 1952, Nanjing Union Theological Seminary was designated the national seminary of the Church of China. Originally it represented a union of twelve seminaries in eastern China until the Beijing Yanjing Seminary joined it in 1962.
Nanjing Union Theological Seminary has, since its beginning, focused on training pastoral workers, teachers, and researchers. In order to promote overall development of the students in both spirit and theological knowledge, the Seminary emphasizes "spirit, virtue, knowledge, health, and community".
As the only national seminary in China, the structure of Nanjing Union Theological Seminary is similar to that of universities and colleges in secular society. It has two regular programs: the four year Bachelor Degree of Theology and the three year post graduate Master Degree of Theology. In addition, it has a three year correspondance education program. All students are nominated by their regional church and must pass a written test and interview before being admitted to the Seminary.
Nanjing Seminary is on a new campus in Jiangning District. The original campus will continue to be used as a research center. The new campus lies in the center of Jiangning University City and covers an area of approximately 33 acres (125,000 square meters) with an aim of accommodating 500 students. The current design of the new campus includes the following functional areas: worship area (the campus church), teaching and administrative areas, sports facilities, student residence area, and a front garden.

Talking about foods in Chengdu, as a local girl, I feel extremely proud. Chengdu has a got a fame for all kinds of delicious foods. For me, I’d like to divide them into three parts----local dishes, local snacks and hotpot.
There is no doubt about the popularity of Sichuan foods around this world, and to many people, when they think about Sichuan foods, they will also think about the endless spicy flavor and their burning tongue. Spicy, this should be the most typical impression left to many visitors, as a local girl, I have to say, yeah, because of the humid and wet climate, people of Chengdu like to eat spicy foods, but it is not always the same case. In Chengdu, we have countless delicious foods, even though some of them are quite spicy but still, there are a lot of foods, dishes, snacks, hotpots that are totally not spicy, so don’t be afraid of trying them.
Talking about local dishes, I think it is the best way to see how careful but also how picky our Chengdu people are when we make our dishes. Foods in Sichuan are famous for its various sources, I have met a lot of lovely foreign people, sometimes when we go to a local dish restaurant, they will feel so confused when the waiter brings the dishes, because almost half of the dish is all kinds of sources and they don’t know which part they should eat. To tell a cook is qualified or not, it is very easy to tell from the taste of the dishes he makes. As long as he is careful enough to make all the sources in a balanced way, then he is a good cook for our Sichuan dishes. Now that you come to Sichuan, why not just be picky and try our exquisitely cooked local dishes?
One thing you must try when you are in Sichuan is our local snacks. Most of them have a long long history, perhaps even as long as hundreds of years. Chengdu has a history of more than 2700 years, together with the long history is our various local snacks. Almost each snack has its own story, they can be spicy, sour, sweet, salty; they can be also cute, round, slippery, colorful even surprising. Once you are in Chengdu, go to the time-honored snacks’ restaurant, order a collection of the local snacks, just give your stomach a great enjoyment!
Hotpot is a must-try when you are in Chengdu. Many eaters know that the original place for hotpots was Chongqing, another city next to Chengdu, however, the flavors of the hotpots in Chengdu are never worse than Chongqing. Not all the hotpots are spicy, we have two most common hotpots, one is the traditional flavor, can be spicy, but not too bad, the other one is not spicy at all, you can even drink the soup from it, which can be quite tasty and nutritious. But remember, never try the soup from another pot, unless, you have an iron tongue and stomach!
Sichuan foods are so famous for its reasons----almost all kinds of people can find something they like among our foods. When you are in Chengdu, just be a local people, forget how busy you are, how much you need to earn, just follow our local belief, live and be happy for the moment in your hand! 30 years ago, Zhangjiajie national forest park was explored as the first scenic are.After that,they were Yellow dragon cave,Baofeng lake,Charming western Hunan,Tianmen mountain,Tujia folk custom park,Maoyan drift,Jiutian cave,Great canyon of Zhangjiajie,Dragon king cave,Blueberry garden,Tianmmen international golf and so on.So many of them!
If you want to visit some of them ,you need to figure out how to be there first and go smooth between Zhangjiajie scenic areas .It is complicated! Here i am to help you with that.
1.From the airport of Zjj to Wulingyuan entrance(the biggest entrance of national park,Tianzi mountain):
After arriving, walking out of airport by right side,taking No.4 bus (1CNY/per.off time 19:00-20:00).About 5 minutes to be Dachengshanshui hotel,then switch to bus between Wulingyuan and Zhangjiajie city(12CNY/per).About 30 minutes to be bus station of Wulingyuan.Swich to a taxi to the entrance (to Tianzi mountain,Bailong elevator,Yuanjiajie).5 minutes. Or ,10 to 15 minutes of walking to be entrance.
Take taxi is not a good choice,they usually overcharge.
You can book a car in advance ,that is much easier.
2.From the airport of Zjj to National park entrance:
After arriving, take No.4 bus ,get off at Dachengshanshui hotel.switch to bus between National park and Zjj city(11 CNY/per).About 35 minutes to be National park parking lot.2 more minutes walking can reach to entrance.You can visit Yellow stone village ,Golden whip stream.
It is also better to book a car than take taxi.
3.From the airport to Zhangjiajie city downtown:
Take No.4 bus(1 CNY/per) at day time.
Take taxi,around 30-40 CNY.Driver usually do not meter and overcharge,counter-offer is necessary .
Book a car .
4.From Zjj train station/bus station to Wulingyuan entrance(bus station is nearby train station):
Take shuttle bus of Wulingyuan( 12CNY/per ).About 40 minutes,reach to Wulingyuan bus station.After getting off, 10-15 minutes of walking to the Wulingyuan entrance ,or take a taxi(within 10CNY),5 minutes.
Take a taxi,about 30 minutes,within 120 CNY.
Book a car from Bruce is also a good chioce.
5.From Zjj train station/bus station to National park entrance:
Take shuttle bus of National park(11CNY/per).About 35 minutes,reach to National park parking lot.Two more minutes walking can be in National park entrance.
Take a taxi,30 minutes,100-120CNY
or book a car from Bruce to pick up you.
6.From Zjj train station/bus station to Zjj downtown:
No.6 bus(1 CNY/per) is a good choice.It can take you to most of the popular places,hotels,restaurants,shopping malls.
Take a taxi,about 15-25CNY
No need to book a van.
7.From Zjj down town area to Zjj National park entrance:
Take No.6 bus(1CNY/per) to bus station first and transfer to shuttle bus between Zhangjiajie city to National park entrance(11CNY/per),about 40 mimutes
Take a taxi (100-120CNY),about 30 minutes
Rent a van.
8.From Zjj down town area to Wulingyuan entrance:
The same as 7,but take shuttle bus(12CNY/per) between Zhangjiajie city to Wulingyuan bus station.Then ,take a taxi (with 10CNY),or 15 minutes walking.
9.From Zjj down town area to Tianmen mountain:
Take No.10 bus(1CNY/per) ,you would't mist it.
Take a taxi,within 20CNY,no matter where you are.
9.From Zjj national park entrance to Yellow dragon cave:
Take shuttle bus between Zjj national park and Wulingyuan,10CNY/per.But it is working during peak season time(may to october).
Arrive in Wulingyuan,Transfer to No.1 bus,they transfer bus in Yujiazui and will be passing Yellow dragon cave.
Take a taxi,around 50CNY
10.From Wulingyuan to Yellow Dragon cave:
Take No.1 bus,after 5 to 10 minutes stop in Yujiazui,gonna arrive in Yellow dragon cave.

First we will visit the 700 years old City wall, We will climb up from south gate and have a walk on the wall. We are not sure how many km we can walk, because of the renovating of the wall. Normally we will walk from south gate to the Yunlu Exit.
Then visit the Confucius temple, there is a old building named Dacheng Hall which is over 840 years old. From outside, we can see the big wood joints to lift the big roof around the building which is named Dougong. Due to this design, there are less columns inside the hall for giving the big space for the statues and the prayer. We have chance to see the Confucius statue and learn the philosophy of Confucius. If you like, you can pray for you and your children to get better study.
There is the Paper Cutting master named Wentao nearby the exit of Confucius temple. She is very smart and create the new style paper cutting with much more details and good wishes on it. Her products are made by hanks. It is worth to visit and buy as a souvenir from Pingyao. From the table standing and wall hangings. Please remember, take the red one because of red is the traditional and happy color. But the white one is the best. It is really difficult to choose, because of all of them are really nice.
Then you can have coffee break or tea break if you need at Chummy coffee, after this, visit the City god temple (ChenghuangMiao) which is most beautiful temple inside the wall. Because of the roof is covered by the colorful glazed tiles. There is not only city god and also the three money gods, Now you know why pingyao was the financial center.
Next we will visit the Ancient government building, to see the pingyao politics center in the ancient time. It is the complete building with officials bed room, kitchen and private garden. Follow the guide to look the official’s life from the 250km far away from the hometown.
