About Me

This is Chengdu tour guide/driver Haba Yefei, I have been guiding in Southwestern China (Sichuan,Yunnan,Qinghai and Gansu Province) since July, 2007.

I offer customized tours with reasonable price , I love my job and proud to introduce my region to people from all over the world.

Why choose me as your tour guide in Chengdu/Sichuan?

1)     You will get only honest information. Too much fake /incomplete/dishonest tourist information on line, which makes it hard for tourists to make right decisions, especially about the Panda, very tricky!

2)   I guarantee you the best panda experience. There are 5 panda sanctuaries around Chengdu, each one focus on different thing, I’ll take you to the right one according to what you would like to do (panda watching, panda hugging, panda volunteer) at the right timing at the right spots. Pandas are only active little time in early morning , don’t waste your time on finding the spots.

3)   No tourist trap! I hate tourist trap as much you do. I don’t take people to tourist shops where I can get commission. I prefer to take people to see panda, peaceful pretty nature, authentic local lives and some of the really nice historical sites. I don’t do Jinli or Kuanzhai  Alley these kinds of fake historical sites, although they are supper popular and recommended by all travel agents, tourist websites and guide books.

4)     The price of tour fare is reasonable, I offer best price for what I give because there is no middle man between you and me. Most of travel agents are very mean to their tour guides, Synotrip is a good website, a great bridge between tour guides and tourists.

.

5)     I’m a tough man and a careful driver, driving a sightseeing Buick GL8 van with 7 seats, size 5200x1825x1930mm, it’s in good condition with AC and big space for luggage. Way of my live is kind of following Taoism, healthy and willing to walk a lot if needed, I don’t smoke.

As a tour guide, I don’t have much time to answer emails, write to me with as much details as possible please. If you don’t receive my reply for days, check the spam.

Please be noted the daily rate USD100 is only for my guiding fee, excluding transportation. Transportation cost depends on the size of the group and mileage.

P.S  I do lots of tours to Tibet. Foreigners need permit(different from visa to China) to visit TAR(Western Tibet), but not other regions of Tibet situated in Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu and Yunnan, traditionally known as Amdo and Kham. TAR is only part of TIbet. Tibet is twice as big, and travel in Amdo and Kham is free.

My wife and I used Haba as our guide for April 8-10, 2012.  In a word, he was fantastic!  Up until that point in our two week trip, our culinary experiences were rather lacking but all that changed when we arrived in Chengdu and met Haba.  Not only did he find us great places to eat, but his previous experience as a guide proved invaluable in recommending destinations and experiences that previous clients had found particularly impressive.  This all culminated with our time in Sichuan as easily being the highlight of our trip.  And all this was thanks to Haba.  He takes great care of his clients, right down to the tiniest details.  Not to mention that he has a wonderful sense of humor and is genuinely a pleasure to be around.

Myself and 4 other friends just returned from our trip to China 20 - 23 March 2012 (Chengdu, Juizhaigou and Xian).  We were muslim ladies from Malaysia and this was our first time visiting China.  We thank God for letting us meet such a wonderful and pleasant tour guide by the name of Haba.  He made our trip to China so memorable, full of sweet memories and unforgettable.  He was so accommodating, helpful, punctual, extremely knowledgeable, experienced, speak very fluent English, a great translator, energetic and of  course the best trait in him was his sincerity which really shown in the way he treated us.

Apart from the agreed itineraries, he brought us into the Muslim areas of Songpan, visit to Qiang village, muslim night market at Xi'an which were really a valuable experience and eye opener to us.  His untiring effort to find muslim restaurant even at the remote towns and sincerely looking out for mosques at every stop made us so at ease and pleased.  Such itinerary really suit what we have dreamt off before we start our tour.  He didn't complain whenever we repeatedly asked for stops (as we arranged for a private van).  We really can't thank him enough for his warm hospitality to us.  His sincerity gave sense of security to us.  The journey was so pleasant with a young and careful driver which we would like to communicate to him if not for the language barrier.

We don't think we will be able to gain such invaluable experience if we joined the big tour group.  All our friends were amazed with our opportunity to explore such unique lifestyle of some ethnic groups in China.  They envy our experience and most of them were so interested to join should we have similar tour in future.  I really recommended to viewers who surf this website that Haba is one of the best, knowledgeable, excellent, sincere tour guide.

Haba took my husband and I to a village outside of Chengdu. In the morning we cooked two meals in a restaurant, first watching the chef make it, then cooking it ourselves! While we were cooking Haba served as photographer and got some great shots. The chef and his family sat and ate and talked with us, Haba was a great translator. We then walked all around the village visiting with the locals, stopping at a fishing hole, playing cards and everywhere we went Haba was knowledgeable and great at translating for us. In the early evening we walked around People's Park and Tianfu Square and he explained what we were seeing and translated the Chinese signs for us. He loves showing people the city and surrounding areas, his English is very good and he is very accomodating. He fit us in very last minute, made us dinner reservations and helped us communicate with our hotel (where no-one speaks English). If you want to take the bus or taxis, that works great, or Haba has drivers he will call that will be yours for the day.

We highly recommend Haba if you find yourself in Chengdu!!

I arranged a day trip into the country with Haba. He was very informative and has very good English. I am a lone woman and I totally felt safe with Haba, although Sichuan is a safe place to visit anyhow.

We travelled by train and he organised the tickets, which is not a easy to buy as in the UK.

Haba has excellent knowledge of local communities and tells it how it is. The local people liked talking to him which was great for me as I had the chance to mix with them in their homes.

He is trust worthy, arrives on time, makes all the arrangements and is very interesting to talk to.

Haba was our guide in Lijiang in May. He was very helpful and is also extremely knowledgeable. He is very interested in the Naxi culture and nature conservation, and took us on a magnificent excursion to Wenhai village. If you like to visit the less touristy spots he will know the best way to go. He also organised our journey to Shangri La, enabling us to stop off on the way and take a short walk to the Tiger Leaping stone.

Although we organised our whole trip to Yunnan, using local transport, we are really pleased we found Synotrip and the guides, as obviously there are some places it just isn't easy to get to without local knowledge.

Thank you Haba for a memorable day in Lijiang.
