We had a 5-day trek to the glacier with alex. The weather was good. We walked to the glacier above the lake. The views are amazing. Alex took good care of us and provided us with tasty food while camping. Alex prepared extra sleeping bags for us for the nights. we really appreciated. The food we had during camping was out of our expectations. We really enjoyed our trip in Sichuan and would like to recommend Alex for his patience, experiences in the mountain, flexibility and good communicating skills. We booked a Trip with Alex for 5 days in March 2021 – Chengdu to Yading. Eventhough we booked Alex just as a driver, he constantly helped us as a Tour guide, giving us background Info, making sure we got without problems all our entry tickets, and even helped us buying tickets for our next transportation. Furthermore, we were suprised by the excellent support Alex provided before the trip: a Full PDF with Info about the route, essential to dos, COVID–19 requirements etc. Also he called hotels to ensure our stay as foreigners. And all this without us asking for support. We were very thankful. In conclusion, Alex is very friendly and professional and took all the efforts to make our Trip as smooth as possible! Read less

I could not expect excellent, diligent, friendly guide than Alex. He was very helpful from the first time we contacted. His knowledge is more than expected and he has an incredible knowledge on Chinese history as well as on Sichuan. I really enjoyed the 6 days with him. We did a 8-day Kangding hike/camp with Alex Tang just last week. Alex is professional from checking our gear to explaining in detail what to expect for the hike and the changes we may need to make where needed. Our greatest comfort is that he puts safety 1st and does not take unnecessary risks shown from his careful driving to ensuring proper acclimatization. He even lend us his gear to ensure we were well "wrapped", not to catch a cold. Amazed he was able to cook some very nice dishes up in the highlands. We were happy that he involved us in doing some marketing before the hike, showing us the colourful local market with loads of fresh produce. This is Alex himself writing a reply to the previous review from Michaela Yazdi. Because most of what she wrote are not true. To Michaela Yazdi, It is not fair you gave me a bad review based on twisted facts. I worked as a guide with professional and reasonable manner. It was you didn't appreciate everything you saw and didn't like anyone you met that made this trip so frustrating for yourselves. You blamed everything on me because you didn't like me. A) I'm not a greedy person. You failed to mention that my price was A LOT cheaper than any price you got from any travel companies. You initially wanted to visit Jiuzhaigou but it was closed. The new plan you gave to me will require more time of working/driving, yet my price stayed the same. The hotel price i sent you were in breakdowns, the total sum was USD470 yet you only paid me USD425. And when i found out and asked you to pay me the missing USD45, you said: that(USD425) was the price i found on internet. So if you could book these hotels by yourself, why did you ask me to book them for you, and given that you already knew my price was higher? You kept saying my car has problems. I had to go check my car because you "felt" it was not right, i spent extra CNY300 to check for zero problem, just to make you feel safer. And til this date, you still own me USD45. So who is greedy? B) I'm not rude. At the first moment when we meet at the airport, you staired me for at least one minute as if you were expecting someone else. You kept complaining about food, hotels, local people. And you called us local people "UGLY". that's right it is exactly the word you used. I wanted to help you with ordering food, your husband said: we prefer to be by ourselves. And not forget your husband alwasy talk aggressively. You presented obvious disrespect and dispise to local people including me, simply because these places are poor and wihtout modern facilities. Who is rude? C) I am not manipulative. I sent you a final itinerary with details as you requested based on the simple itinerary you gave me. There were some small changes in the itinerary i gave you. Yet you used your simple/original itinerary during the whole trip ingoring the new itinerary i sent you.I have written clearly in the trip description to you that the places you are visiting are not like big cities, these places are remote, far and with absolute limited options on food and hotels. You only eat vegetables, only with salt and little oil. Expcet these you don't eat anything. You said you will be fine. Before you decided on the trip, there was a duration of weeks of you wished to wait for further news on Jiuzhaigou Park, you let me kept the hotel bookings for you for both tours, and I had to make lots of phone calls to hotel people to keep the rooms for you and kept pushing the due paying time. You make assumptions based on your own imagination, because you didn't trust/like me. The road construction in Dawu is temporal and no one foresaw this. If you used service from any travel company, it would be the same. There was not any time I drove dangerously during this trip. If anyone has seen the road, or has driven on these roads before, you will understand. We were driving an average of 250km to 300km each day on mountain roads on Tibetan Plateau. TO READERS: I have to write down this to defend myself because the acusations are not true and my living relies on this. As an independent guide, i compete with companies with lower price yet providing same standard service. I work for people from diffferent contries, they are all happy by end of trip.
