In September 2018 we hired Alex for a 10-day trip to West Sichuan. He has excellent English language both in speech and in writing. During the early engagement between us, Alex was a professional, and cooperative. During the trip we learned in the hard way that his ability to be nice, his professionalism as a guide, and ability to work with people, are limited to few hours. We quickly realized that he is manipulative, aggressive, rude, greedy and trying to dictate his desires at first under the guise of niceness and when he could not manipulate us as he wished, his true and unpleasant face was revealed. Alex broadcast violence in his body language, in the way he spoke and looked threateningly Alex as a driver: His driving was dangerous and very aggressive with a lot of tension and did not stop cursing the other drivers (even without knowing Chinese, you understand what he said). Alexs a guide: In fact, Alex did not function as a guide at any stage of the trip, on the contrary, he acted against us, did not give accurate information, made sure to keep the ambiguity, for example not to tell that one road is closed for several hours because of road work, and another road is no longer active. Why did he do that? His goal was to change the route according to what suits for him so he could earn some more money from us by not using expensive hotel he sold to us in advance, he cancelled this room with no charge and soled us another hotel in the new destination. Alex was angry and said to us: "I am the only one who works in this car." He forgot that we worked all year round to finance this trip and that he came to work for a very good payment that he received in cash when we met. What did he expect During the walks in most of the route the paths were not clear. Alex ran ahead and let us decides which way to choose. One time we got into trouble, we called him and asked him to stay with us and show us the way. He answered insolently: "Do you want me to carry you?" Instead of helping, he did everything he could to feel worse in order to increase our dependence on him. The climax was in the last three days he become more violent and broke off contact with us actually he was only a silent deaf driver. The situation was so bad so in the last part of the tour we felt like we drive with a terrorist that kidnaped us. We wanted to run away from him, hire another driver and car paying twice but unfortunately it was impossible to find another car for such a long drive. Everything written here is just the tip of the iceberg. We are experienced travelers that traveled to many countries all over the world but never encountered such a disaster like Alex. Do not do the mistake we did - hiring him because his price was cheaper and he was nice to us until the we paid him all the money and the trip started. Read less

Alex is a fantastic guide. We booked a trekking to a mountain. He is well experienced and very friendly. He really tries to make your trip unique, and we must say, he succeeded very well! It was an amazing trip. He speaks English very well, which makes it also more convenient. We will most certainly call him again when we return. Read less

I booked a trip to Mount Siguniang with Alex. I found him very reliable and communicative. He prepared everything for me and my wife; he ensured our safety. He knew our limits so we didn't get injured during hiking at high altitude. Still, he provided us amazing experience at Mount Siguniang. I highly recommend him as a tour guide! Read less

Alex was my guide for two days in Chengdu.  Great travel around the city, good and interesting information.  I think he'd rather be doing active tourism and I was just a local tourist in Chengdu.

He customized by trip a bit and found a place for my to buy used fountain pens (I'm a collector).

Good communication, highly recommend.
