If you’re looking for a reliable, knowledgeable and respectful tour guide/driver, look no further!  Ruwan has helped make our Sri Lankan holiday very smooth and memorable.

He is knowledgeable not only in Sri Lanka’s ancient history, but equally so in many aspects of life in Sri Lanka today.   We could ask him any question, and he was able to give us great insight, or if he was unsure, he told us as well!

Ruwan has a great command of English and his sense of humour is simply superb.  He’s very personable and very accommodating if we wanted some changes or extra sightseeing.   
If/when we visit Sri Lanka again, it will be with Ruwan!

My Wife and I chose Ruwan trips after some searching online of other peoples reviews.

When I contacted Ruwan via email, he was kind enough to call me in Australia, soon after.

We traveled in May 2015 for 11 days and were extremely impressed by Ruwan as our Guide.

He was their at the airport to pick us up in Colombo and took us all over Sri Lanka for the next 11 days.

He had perfect English conversation skills and was very knowledgeable about everything to do with Sri Lanka

My wife and I can honestly say that we recommend Ruwan Trips 100% for anyone considering traveling to Sri Lanka.

We booked Ruwan for 10 days as tour guide and driver for our trip to Sri Lanka. Ruwan has a very comfortable car with plenty of leg room. He is a very safe driver and he has an excellent knowledge of Sri Lanka both historical and current. Ruwan was very reliable and always showed up on time. We booked our own accomodation and simply employed Ruwan as driver and guide. Sure he would be happy to handle booking as well if you wanted him to. We paid 10% deposit at time of booking in USD and balance can be paid at start or end of tour. Ruwan is university educated and speaks very good English. He comes from Kandy where his family, wife and children live although he works from Colombo. As we now know the nicest people come from Kandy. We were delighted to meet his family when we stopped in Kandy. I like synotrip as we have used this site before when travelling throughout China. If you want a hassle free tour of Sri Lanka then you should book Ruwan as he was excellent. Read less

Our family of 4 did a tour of SL in 04/2014. Ruwan was extremely friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. He is very clear, precise and spoke English very well. Ruwan gave us a lot of insights into SL life and culture. Much of the knowledge we gained from him is not in guides or other sources, it was a true local experience. My wife and I visited Sri Lanka in December 2013. We spent 11 nights touring cities Colombo, Pollorunawa, Anuradhapura, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Mirrissa. I must say, right from the very start, we owe the success of the trip to Mr Ruwan from Ruwan Trips.

Even before the start of our trip, Mr Ruwan patiently guided us through the planning of our itinerary after knowing what we wanted from the trip. Knowing that the entire trip was customizable to our preference was an absolute delight for us.

During our tour, Mr Ruwan provided us with a brand new and comfortable van even though it was only the two of us. This luxury allowed us to even catch short naps during long drives! Truly a blessing!

Mr Ruwan was a very knowledgable guide who was able to tell us all the facts and history behind various happenings both past and present about everything we enquired about. Right from the reasons behind why different statues of Buddha were sculpted differently to the current affairs of the politics in Sri Lanka, Mr Ruwan is certainly a treasure-trove of information. He takes the initiative to call the hotels ahead of our arrival so that we could check in without any fuss. Another benefit of having Mr Ruwan around is that he does not bring you to any commercial shop/vendor so that he may profit from your purchases. In fact he even helps you to negotiate(when possible) and helps you get the best deal. Moreover, Mr Ruwan is able to effortlessly modify the itenarary and ensure that the tour is maximised even when we made sudden changes. This flexibility was fully appreciated as we changed some parts of our itenarary at the very last minute.

All in all, Mr Ruwan made us feel safe and comfortable knowing that there was someone dependable whom we can trust in a foreign land. Ultimately, I believe that is what is most important when it comes to planning for a nice vacation - Knowing that you and your family are in good hands every step of the way.

My wife and I would very strongly recommend that any travelers to Sri Lanka contact Mr Ruwan for all your travel plans. You won't go wrong!

​It's hard to put into words our sri lankan experience! It was breathtaking and unforgettable! Sri Lanka has something for its every visitor: beautiful beaches, timeless ruins, smiling and welcoming people, aromatic tea gardens, delicious food, amazing wildlife and rich cultural sites. And we were blessed with 15 days of wonderful weather and a great tour guide. Ruwan is truly an excellent guide. He designed the tour with our input and changed the plan as we went along as needed or wanted. He was extremely helpful and prompt in the planning process - he was on time, full of information, offered ideas and suggestions when asked. Was warm, friendly, and fun to spend the days with. He was knowledgeable about many different areas of interest and tailored the tour to our interests. Ruwan, many thanks for showing us your gorgeous country. Without you, we would have seen but a small part of what we saw. You made our vacation carefree, which was just what we needed. We really appreciated being looked after so well, not having to worry about arranging anything for ourselves - really very spoilt! Thank you, Ruwan; you are the best!
