Absolutely The Best! What a wonderful day! This was not only our best day in Shanghai, but one of the most memorable days we’ve had throughout many years of international travel. The day started at the train station in Shanghai, where we met Miki. She was toting a big red suitcase nearly half her size. She greeted us warmly, and chaperoned us onto the bullet train for our ride to Hangzhou. There we were met by a van and driven to West Lake, where we boarded a private boat for a tour of the lake. Once on the boat, Miki unpacked her suitcase and set up her beautiful tea set for the tea ceremony. Miki is a Tea Master, which is a commendable achievement. She has a true love of tea and enjoys sharing her knowledge and appreciation for tea with her guests. She brought out the Longjing (Dragon Well) tea leaves and explained how the leaves are cultivated, selected, and prepared. With graceful movements, she poured the tea for us. She explained the origin of the name and showed us how to best savor the nuances of aroma and flavors as we drank. Coupled with the gentle rocking of the boat and the beautiful scenery, this was a truly magical moment. Leaving the lake, we boarded our van and headed out to the tea plantations. Miki explained the economics behind tea farming, and we discussed the different grades of tea to further enhance our appreciation. At the plantation she “put us to work” picking tea leaves and explained how selective the process is for making the best Dragon Well Tea. For a tea lover, this was a phenomenal way to start the day. After a break for a generous lunch at a local restaurant, we were given a choice of afternoon destination and selected the Six Harmonies Pagoda. With 13 floors visible from the outside, the pagoda actually has 7 stories inside and is worth the climb. The views of the river and bridge are impressive. After that, we headed back to the train station for the bullet train and van transfer to Xitang Water Village, where we had homemade noodles and dumplings provided by Miki’s “sister”. Newly fortified, we toured the town, got some great photos, and ended up in a bohemian bar where we were entertained by local musicians and singers. Excusing herself for a moment, Miki reappeared in a stunning red qipao and took the stage to sing several beautiful ballads. We were amazed. Miki is a truly exceptional individual. With Miki, you start the day as a client, spend a day as a guest, and end the day as family! Read less

I have seen many tea ceremonies in China, and even many in Japan, but Miki is definitely the best Tea Master I have seen in China before. She assures me that she had a teacher too, so perhaps there are better, but it is very difficult to come across people with real passion and dedication to studying and practicing cultural arts in China, so I feel quite blessed to have attended Miki's class. The class itself was mostly watching her great ceremony and learning about the different types of tea and how they should be served and presented. I now know a lot more about the different types of tea in China and how to get the most out of the tea tasting experience. I think to learn to do a formal tea ceremony myself will take many months of dedication! Read less

Miki herself met me at my hotel on the north end of the Bund and we had a great day visiting notable site and neighborhoods in Shanghai. Miki was professional, organized and knowledgable about her city. A highlight was participating in a tea ceremony - an area of particular focus and expertise for Miki. I came away with a lot of really good information and a whole new appreciation for both tea and its significance in this culture. Thanks for a great day! I would highly recommend Miki Wei without hesitation. Read less

We spent an evening and a day with Miki in Shanghai March 2019. Miki toured us through markets, alley ways, parks and the tall tower introducing us to the city she is so proud of. Everything was beautifully executed and Miki was charming and fun to follow after. Her energy was contagious. We tasted many of the special foods Shanghai is famous for. We found her informative and well prepared to show us around. Her driver seemed to appear magically whenever we finished wandering a sight. She had maps and pictures to complement our tour and understanding of Shanghai. She also surprised us by reciting and singing ancient poetry to us in the Yu Gardens and serving us tea in the park. We will remember fondly our time with Miki. Read less

I used Miki as my guide and translator for some factory/showroom visits. She was a perfect guide - she helped me coordinate travel and worked directly with my contacts to schedule arrivals, etc. She was also great as a translator, and 'cultural guide' for my meetings and business meals - she kept a perfect 'flow'.. without her I would have had a very difficult time understanding context. Thanks Miki!
