I booked Arthur last October. He definitely is the guide you are looking for if you wanna get out of the way of tourist-loaded places. He is not the cheapest but was worth every yuan spent! I'm a photographer and Arthur quickly understood what I was looking for. He didn't mind to get out of bed at 5am to get me the best possible sunrise in Yangshuo. He took me off-path, stopped whenever I asked him too and was looking as much as myself to find ideal spots to shoot. Since I travelled on my own he even joined me for dinner at night and treated me to a great noodle breakfast. He was always on time and knows a lot about almost everything regarding to China. If I managed to ask him something where he couldnt find an immediate answer, he checked it at night and the next morning I would have the answer. Arther took me to real pretty places in the country, and had some surprise everyday. Arhur does not stick to a schedule and on one occasion he was by my side for 13 hours on 1 day, although the price did not change. Personnal service is what you get with him. If I had to pay his overnight staying, he choose cheap places for himself, never try to get more money out of the occasion and arranged EVERYTHING I asked for. He gave an unforgettable touch to my travel and I am really thankfull for that. So if you need a personnal guide who will not disappoint you, Arthur is the man. He will email you propositions, 'sur mesure' before your arrival in China, so you know exactly what the cost is gonna be. Thanks Arthur, next time I'm in the region I know who I'm gonna call since conversating, even over the phone, is no problem, his english is really good as well ;-).

My husband & I planned a 5 day tour of Guilin, Yangshuo and Longshen and chose Arthur as our travel guide. Arthur proved to be an exceptional guide from the point of sending a very detailed travel itinerary to providing us with excellent suggestions and input on how to best utilize our time in these areas. He also was very considerate and thought of many details such as providing us with mineral water daily, taking us to a few places to try out the local cuisine and was as enthusiastic in making sure we saw everything these areas had to offer.

My husband being an avid photographer was very grateful to Arthur as he made sure he took us to the best possible locations for taking photographs. 

We would like to thank Arthur for his patience, reliability and enthusiasm as it made our trip one of the best we've had in China thus far! It was truly a memorable experience!

My wife and I joined Arthur for a four day tour from Guilin to Sanjiang, Zhaoxing, LongJi and back to Guilin. As it turned out, there was a lot to fit into such a short time but Arthur was so insistant on us seeing everything that we could and at our own pace. I am going to describe the adventure in detail on tripadvisor but want to thank Arthur publicly for his planning, attention to detail such as water and snack food, going that extra yard such as meals with minority families and intimate tours of their houses. In particular, my wife and I are both in our 70's and the care and assistance Arthur displayed particularly to my wife was incredible and something I would not expect from the larger tour companies. In fact, Arthur became our friend, not just a guide. Arthur is a wonderful person and it has been a privilege to meet him and enjoy his company. You will not be disappointed in engaging Arthur to assist you on your holiday in Guilin and surrounds.

My wife and I went on Arthur's 1-day tour from Guilin, which included a trip to Baisha, Xingping, bamboo rafting down the Li River, a visit to an old Qin dynasty farm house, and a trip to Yangshuo.

We had a great day, and Arthur was a really good guide, giving us just the right amount of information about everywhere we went and everything we saw. There were also plenty of opportunities to stop and take photos on the way between sights. True to Arthur's page on Synotrip, there was no shopping (e.g. getting dumped at a silk factory or something like that, which inevitably happens on big tours), and some small snacks and lunch were also included in the price we paid.

Compared to the big organised tours, we found Arthur to be better value for money, while also getting to see a lot more.

Highly recommended!
