Nearly five years of living with my wife and children in Yunnan has grown a knowledge and appreciation of the local culture. I am a native speaker of English, have a high proficiency in Chinese, and a basic level of the local variety of Tibetan spoken around Shangri-la. Ever since I was young I have had an appreciation of the outdoors and this corner of Northwestern Yunnan is one of the greatest to explore China's natural natural beauty.
We can take you to many parts of Yunnan including Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Shangri-la, Wenshan. We have a Great Wall SUV that seats a total of 7 people that can comfortably travel the highways from city to city and can handle the rough roads throughout rural Yunnan.
In addition to visiting gorgeous, frequently visited sites such as Tiger Leaping Gorge, we can also take you to remote, rarely visited locations in Shangri-la. If you would like to see things around town we can take you and provide full guide services such as interpretation or arrange with local guides for pickup and dropoff. We can help suggest quaint guesthouses in the Old Town of Shangri-la, beautiful resorts, or rustic cabin retreats.
One of the highlights for many coming to Shangri-la is a chance for a homevisit. We can gladly arrange this with local friends.
We are also eager to arrange adventure trips. These can be anywhere from a day hike on lesser known trails, overnight camping, backpacking trips through the highlands, horseback riding treks, to backcountry snowboarding in the winter.
We can accomodate small or large groups and even families of small children. Raising our own four young children in China has shown the challenges of travelling in China with children and though places in China that are accomodating to children are few, we know most of them. Unlike many local vehicles, we have seven seat belts for the seven seats and unlike any local vehicles, we have car seats for children of all ages.

The national park in Shangri-la features two high altitude lakes. When considering visiting the park, one should know that individual car hires cannot enter the park and one can only travel on the park's 'environmental buses'. It makes travel through the park easy, but does limit visitors to the few walking trails that have been set up for visitors.
