My name is Hamed. I am a Licensed Tour Guide & Tour Operator in Iran, authorized to organize tours for Americans and accompany them by the national tourism organization (listed as special guide for Americans, Brits and Canadians in the Iranian MFA guide's list, able to provide Iranian visa support). I graduated in electrical and electronic engineering in 2003.

I travelled through Iran with Hamed for 3 weeks in April 2017, having spent several months prior to that planning my trip with him. Having never travelled with a driver and guide before I was a little apprehensive about both the planning and the trip itself, however it became evident very quickly in my communications with Hamed that he has an amazing awareness of Iranian history, culture and geography matched with a great desire to understand the unique objectives of his traveller. As such Hamed was able to tailor a trip for me that satisfied my individual foibles and curiosities. Hamed was also invaluable in assisting me with obtaining a Visa and providing advice about managing money in Iran. With Hamed’s help I arrived in Iran completely at ease about my trip, knowing that he had already considered all the small things that I otherwise would have been worrying about. More importantly, Hamed is an intelligent, curious and enormously generous person and we were able to develop a rapport easily, which over the course of the three weeks we travelled together became what I consider to be a strong and lasting friendship. Hamed has travelled so extensively in Iran that he has many friends and contacts which gave me an insight into Iranian life that I would not have had if I were travelling as part of an organised tour, or travelling alone without a guide. This past May, I have had the pleasure, along with my companion, to be accompanied and guided by Hamed Dastpak through an 11 day tour throughout Iran. From the moment we started communicating through e-mails, in our effort to organize our trip, I realized that the person I was communicating with was the ideal choice for our trip. He was precise and accurate in his information and prompt in responding all our queries. His knowledge of the English language is immaculate. He was also extremely helpful and fast in getting us the codes which were needed for our visas. When we actually met him in person, we discovered so much more about Hamed. He is a kind and polite person. He is very knowledgeable about all aspects of his beautiful country. He is effective during all situations, tireless, and constantly making sure that you are having a good time. He is an excellent driver, cautious, and trustworthy. You can count on him in showing you the absolute best that Iran has to offer. I recently travelled with Hamed for 3 weeks, having spent around 2 months prior to that communicating with him about the things I wanted to see and do, organising visas etc. Hamed has such a deep knowledge of the history, culture and geography of Iran, as well as having an innate perceptiveness about people that he was able to tailor a plan for me that perfectly suited what I was wanting to get from my trip. He was then able to make that happen seamlessly, and always with the flexibility that ensures that you get to do everything planned but also squeeze in new opportunities as they arise. Hamed also has so many connections all over Iran that I feel I got to meet many people I would not have met on an organised tour, and these encounters often proved to be highlights. Hamed invited me into his home to meet his family and for this wonderful experience I will be forever in his debt. Hamed is a great organiser, and fixer, nothing is too much trouble for him, even though we had many long days driving, or he had many long days driving while I fell asleep in the passenger seat. Most importantly for me Hamed is an incredibly intelligent, perceptive and compassionate person, and a funny one too, he is very happy to share his knowledge and experiences but also incredibly interested in learning more about the people he travels with, and their experiences and about their countries as well. Hamed also knows that everyone is different and seemed to understand easily that as a traveller I sometimes needed time to myself, sometimes needed to be pushed along a bit. Hamed and I had many many laughs on our trip, for me it was like travelling with an old friend, even though we had only just met. I feel privileged to have chanced upon Hamed when I started planning my trip and more so that I have made a friend who I feel I will always have a strong bond with, and who I hope to see again should I find myself in Iran or he in Australia. Hamed was fantastic from when we first got in touch - sorting out the code required for our visa application. He met us as stated on the Turkey/Iran border and helped us get our vehicles through successfully. We had a wonderful time being shown Iran by Hamed. He is committed to visitors having as an authentic experience as possible and we really felt like we came to understand the country and its people. Meeting his family was a particular highlight, they could have not been more welcoming and fun! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hamed as a tour guide through Iran. I traveled with a group of 6 where we met Hamed at the Azeri/Iranian border in Astara. From the moment we met him he was nothing but friendly, warm, and very helpful. He helped us navigate the chaotic process that is an Iranian border crossing with our foreign vehicle. Throughout our time with Hamed it felt more as though we were being escorted by a friend who was showing us around his country rather than being escorted by a tour guide. Friendly, hospitable, and more then willing to answer our questions Hamed gave us insight in a way that guidebooks could not. If I ever have the luck to go to Iran again I would definitely seek out Hamed and would recommend him to any traveler in need of a guide in the country. Read less

A group of 6 of us used Hamed as our guide. We met up with him at the Azeri/Iranian border in Astara and immediately he was warm friendly and extremely helpful with navigating us through the chaotic process that is an Iranian border crossing. Hamed through out our time with him felt more like a friend showing us around his home country as opposed to a hired guide. He was casual, knowledgeable and openly answered all of our questions.
