The street is bisected by another smaller street and "antique" stores prolife rate all over the small neighborhood. You can find just about anything from baskets to ceramics, Mao memorabilia, wood ware, inks-stones, embroderies , jade ware...

Most of the shop owner are living in the old house along the street. You can often see the older people sitting on the street playing  

Ma Jiang or chatting which can show you the real local people's life here.

History: Built in the year 1885-1887 by the retired official Renlansheng , the name derived from a famous aphorism named Zuozhuan by zuoqiuming in Eastern Zhou Dynasty ( 770BC-210BC), “ By loyal to the Emperor when in officialdom , be meditative on the previous faults while retreat from it”. The garden itself is a typical late Qing dynasty architecture.The whole area covers about one fifth acres. Very compact and harmonious, it is a little different from the other garden designed because of its limitation in the land and space, it was designed west to east , comparing of West houses , Middle residential Area and east garden.

In 1986 ,based on the original version of this garden, in Staten Island Botanical Garden Network city in USA , they built a 3850 square inches Chinese style garden named :“The New York Chinese Scholar's Garden”,

Located in Hongkou District , it was originally built in 1896 as a shooting field ,it  was designed by a British Garden designer and it has changed its name several times. I 1999  Hongkou football stadium was built near the park. It is now a very popular park in Shanghai , you will see local people playing Tai-chi in the morning and dance and sinning ,playing cards or chess...

Located in the former French concession area , known as French park ,it is one of the most lovable greenery in Shanghai. it is also a popular place with the old people . Early morning, the park fills with dancers, card players, and tai chi solo and group artists.
