Photos hanging in the entrance corridor depict many of these dignitaries enjoying a visit to Lao She. An evening at the tea house involves a Chinese dinner followed by traditional Chinese entertainment that includes a series of acts, such as Peking Opera, acrobatics, dancing, and a comedy show. All of the entertainment is in Chinese and although there is a screen overhead with English translations, much of the performance will be unfathomable to the non-Chinese speaker. Nonetheless it is still very enjoyable for those seeking an introduction to traditional Chinese entertainment. Lao she is also a good place to take family or friends who may be visiting you in Beijing.
 
A highlight is the tea pouring acrobatics of the waiters. The waiters masterfully pour tea from a very long spouted tea pot into a small tea cup, which is always greeted by much applause. Amazingly fresh tea is served throughout dinner and the performance. There is also a tea and curio shop in the teahouse.
 
Making a reservation in advance is a must, especially on weekends.

It's not easy to find this resturant because google maps takes you a bit away but the timme spent on finding it was worth it. Could never imagine that one would find a dedicated vegetarian restaurant in Beijing! There is a substantial overlay of Thai, Indonesian and Vietnamese influence on the cooking with spices and mixing of cooking proportions, including the use of coconut oil! Groceries are fresh, the tofu is stunning and the sauce used with the vegetables and the tofu were so delicate it would satisfy the most discerning diners ..

       Cool to room-based powder pink, pink down to gauze, pink silk cushion butterfly pattern, light pink, baby blue curtains of the yarn was fascinated by the ambiguous, the gall to fall on the shiny beads curtain. Two-story, three each with a small piece of glass could see the ceiling of the ground is a pool of quiet water. Thai papaya salad dish meal is essential to open food dish. Natural fragrant and green mango juice mixed acid, moist hot tongue slowly swept from the beginning,  while passing  under the channeling, so it  is really wonderful feeling for us!

Many celebrities and  ambassadors came to the restaurant, you could see their photos with the boss on the wall. And the duck is very tasty despite the shabby house and pitiful services. Take a walk in the surrounding Hutongs is quite a experience, the old houses are going to be knocked down soon...

The duck is 228 yuan  for one, came with 2 plates of meat.  In the evening, The place is very busy, You can only call to book the duck, but not the table.

If you live in Shunyi (a suburb about 40 minutes from the city that is a popular amongst expats), or if you happen to be in the neighbourhood, head to Elaine’s Restaurant for some healthy vegetarian fare. The restaurant is located down a quiet road overlooking Luoma Lake. An outdoor terrace is a very nice compliment to the indoor seating area. While the lake views make for a peaceful setting, there is not much else to do in the area immediately surrounding the restaurant. The restaurant is a little off the beaten track, so you may need to ask the restaurant to call a cab for you once you are ready to leave. 
 
The menu is extensive and offers dishes which, although they sound like they contain meat, are strictly vegetarian. A special feature of the restaurant are the delicate wooden roll-out menus, which are in English and Chinese.  Although the food is very tasty, it’s probably not worth making the trip from the city, especially since the menu is similar at the more conveniently located Pure Lotus Vegetarian.
