Elaine's Vegetarian Restaurant & Bar

If you live in Shunyi (a suburb about 40 minutes from the city that is a popular amongst expats), or if you happen to be in the neighbourhood, head to Elaine’s Restaurant for some healthy vegetarian fare. The restaurant is located down a quiet road overlooking Luoma Lake. An outdoor terrace is a very nice compliment to the indoor seating area. While the lake views make for a peaceful setting, there is not much else to do in the area immediately surrounding the restaurant. The restaurant is a little off the beaten track, so you may need to ask the restaurant to call a cab for you once you are ready to leave. 

 

The menu is extensive and offers dishes which, although they sound like they contain meat, are strictly vegetarian. A special feature of the restaurant are the delicate wooden roll-out menus, which are in English and Chinese.  Although the food is very tasty, it’s probably not worth making the trip from the city, especially since the menu is similar at the more conveniently located Pure Lotus Vegetarian.
