Shimaotianjie has an English name called THE PLACE, which is a shopping center with two main buildings oppsite one another and connected by a shelter with overhead screen, impressive to watch the screen at night.

Very nice Indian food, like from your own kitchen.

Lamb Vindaloo !!!

I don’t know if it’s the best lamb curry in Beijing but it’s my favorite.  I eat at Ganges often and the lamb vindaloo is as spicy and flavorful as any I’ve tried in the past.  Service is quite nice and responsive and the interior is thoughtfully designed and comfortable.

The restaurant is a really typical  Indian one, quality of curry chicken and delicate, rich flavor of curry ,moreover, the waiters are very politely .

Love this restaurant.  When I’m Beijing I normally reserve one day to dine at Ganges.  Spices are important in any cuisine but I think especially in Indian food because of the way curry is made (curry is a bunch of spices mixed together).  Get the spice wrong and the dish won’t taste right.  Thankfully I have never had that experience at Ganges.  I also like that the restaurant is very clean, modern and comfortable. Menu is in Chinese and English and the management speaks several languages.  Service is kind and referential.

For travelers and locals alike: I whole heartedly recommend this restaurant.  Their curries are flavor rich discoveries of the tongue.  Spicy vindaloo, butter chicken or a vegetarian curry they all are incredible.  The barbecue (Tandoori) chicken is also a favorite of mine.  Their naan bread comes in plenty varieties but for me the Garlic is the best. In the summer months go for the yogurt based mango lassi drinks. The Salt (it’s good) is also great.  In the winter try the spiced Indian tea.  Best time to go is between Thursday and Sunday when there are ethnic dance performances.  Easiest way to get their (they have four different locations) is to tell the taxi driver you’re going to “San lit un”.  Ganges is located on the third floor in the building behind the Addidas store.  You can’t miss it.
