Guilin, An Exquisite City Under Heaven

Guilin, well-known for its magnificent limestone scenery, her beauty is renowned throughout the whole world. The city's name means "forest of Sweet Osmanthus" ("gui" means "osmanthus tree" while "lin" means "forest"). As a local from that enchanting little city, I can be as proud as a peacock to recommend all the marvelous essences of my hometown.

First of all, the Li River, winding its way among crags and hills, creates a timeless beauty that seems to belong to a landscape painting. Guilin is built around water, with the scenery inter-mingled together with the city herself, one can never separate one and another. The Li River and the Taohua Jiang ("Peach Blossom") River are two main rivers meandering through the city, and a number of smaller lakes and ponds are present within the city and its surroundings.

And then, Yangshuo, an idyllic small town situated among tranquil, impressive country scenery, is a paradise where brave and energetic backpackers from both home and abroad could relax and enjoy the magnificent surroundings. And all the local delicious foods, such as Beer Stewed Fish, Guilin Rice noodles, ect., can always impress your tongue and increase your appetite to the maximum. 

Other surrounding counties such as Xin'an and Longsheng are also renowned for their unique beautiful scenery. Longsheng is famous throughout China even throughout the world, for the unparalleled scenic beauty of its terraced rice paddies. Meanwhile, she is also known as the hometown of Zhuang and Yao ethnic cultures.

Finally, it's usually highly recommended to enjoy the beautiful scenery along side the Li River by both the Li River Cruise & Yangshuo Bamboo Raft. Only in this way can you well seize the true meaning of all the universal appraisals for her breathtaking beauty.
