Tiger Leaping Gorge Upper Trail

Following the footprint of American Botanist/ advanture's foot print to discover Shangrila in the Novel "lost horizen" ,  this a outdoor advanture hiking route from Shangrila to Yading. 

You will be able to see a mysterious hidden sites , Niru village,   a pure and harmonious land in Shangrila , it is also known as "No 1 village around the globe! "   From Niru, you will hike 2-3 days through mountains and valleys from Yunnan and cross Yunnan-Sichaun border and arrive Yading in Ganzi prefecture, Sichuan ,  pass by sites  including Nanbao pasture , Dijie pasture,colorful waterfall , Dingru lake, selie lakeand snow-capped peaks, finally reach Shangrila town (Riwa town), from there you will enjoy 2 days of hike inside of Yading natural reserve to see milk lake, five color lake, luorong pasture , pearl lake and the 3 holy mountains (Xiannairi, Xianuoduoji and Yangmaiyong   ).

Itinerary:

D1, Shangrila - Niru village, Hike to Colorful waterfall .

D2, Niru village- Selie alpine lake - Naobao pasture- night at Camping site 

D3, Camping site-Sela peak(4300m)-Yala pasture , Night at Camping site

D4, Camping site-Yala holy mountain- Nigong village,  take car to Riwa town.

D5, Day hike to Yading natural reserve (pearl lake,  chonggu monastery, Xiannai ri mountain), night at Yading.

D6, Day hike to Yading natural reserve(Milk lake and five color lake ), night at Yading

D7, Yading- Shangrila by car

  Day 1 Arrive in Kunming, and tour around Kunming city if time allows.

  Day 2 Visit the Stone Forest, which is about 2 hrs drive from Kunming

city. Then can enjoy the amazing Ethnique Performance called Dynamic

Yunnan in the Grand Yunnann Theatre, at 8-9:30pm.

  Day 3 Fly to Dali. Then Dali Old Town, hike to the Tea Plantation on

Cangshan Mt., then bike along part of the Erhai Lake if interested.

  Day 4 Visit Xizhou morning market, then drive 2 hrs to Shaxi, and

visit the Hnaging Temple and grotos in the Shibao Mt., Shaxi old town

in the evening.

  Day 5 Drive 1.5-2 hrs from Shaxi to Lijiang. Can check out the horse

riding and boating activities around Lashi Lake if interested. Then

visit Lijiang old town and Black Dragon Pool Park.

  Day 6 Explore the interesting villages around Lijiang. Visit a hidden

village where has the best view over Lijiang Basin, with cows and goats

wondering around. Can also visit a local Naxi family here if

interested. Then Baisha Village and Shuhe old town.

  Day 7 Visit Jade Dragon Snow Mt., take cable car up to the Spruce

Meadow, where has the best view of the main peaks of the snow mountain,

and you can take beautiful walks through the forest to the meadow,

where has horses and sheep around. Then Blue Moon Valley where the

glacier water is naturally blue and green. Can also enjoy the show at

the foot of the snow mountain, called Impression Lijiang.

  Day 8 Drive 1.5 hrs to Tiger Leaping Gorge, visit the upper gorge

where most tourists go but also very grand and beautiful. Then hire a

local mini van up to somewhere near Tea Horse G.H., and hike about 1.5

-2 hrs to Halfway G.H., then take the minivan down to visit the tourist

part of the Upper Tiger Gorge, if interested. Then 2 hrs further up to

Shangrila, with a stop for beautiful mountain views.

  Day 9 Visit the interesting villages and temples around Shangrila.

First drive to Dabaoji Palace Temple, where local people still go and

pray even it is a quite small and hidden temple. We can also pay a

visit to some local Tibetan family around here. Then the famous

Songzanlin Lamasery. Then Napa Lake area where has lots of yaks,,

horse, piggs wondering, with lovely Tibetan villages around.

  Day 10 Departure flight from Shangrila (Diqing Airport).

Hiking Tiger Leaping  Gorge is the most famous hike in Yunnan province. The Tiger leaping gorge also called The Yangtze River Gorge. It's the one of most beautiful and dangerous gorge in the world.  It's incredible hiking trail with wonderful viewing. Jake Dragon Snow Mountain,Haba Snow Mountain,Yangtze River,Local Villages,Waterfall,Cliff,Gorges....That all  will makes you unforgetable trip in Yunnan.
The most of our groups hiking in the gorge 2 days. 
Day 1:In the morning met English-speaking guide at hotel in Lijiang. This day hiking will be hard.It's take about 2 hours by car to Qiaotou. Then start hiking from Qiaotou with your backpack. About 3 hours hike to Naxi family for Lunch, after lunch hike another 3 hours to Tea Horse guesthouse<Overnight Tea horse guesthouse>
  Day 2: Today hiking not so hard. The hiking path is flat. From Tea Horse Guesthouse about 3 hours to Tina's Guesthouse. After lunch by car To Shangri-La or Back To Lijiang

Day2 look around lijiang see lijiang old tow shuhe and baisha village
Day3 take car from lijiang to Tiger leaping gorge on the way see shigu village the first bend of Yangtze River and upper gorge then go to middle gorge.
Day4 take car from middle gorge to Shangrila on the way see haba village haba snow mountain and write water terrace then continue to Shangrila after going to see Shangrila old town.
Day5 look around Shangrila see Songzanlin monastery and Putacuo national park.
Day6 take car back to lijiang on the way see yi village .
