Highlights: This hiking tour offers you the chance to deeply appreciate the beauty of natural scenery and local culture in three most popular tourist cities in Yunnan. Hike around the spring city of Kunming, Cangshan Mountains and Erhai Lake in Dali, Old Town of Lijiang, and delve beneath the surface to see what lays undiscovered in the enchantments of the native life.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Kunming
Upon arriving in Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province, meet and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day to explore the city at your own pace.
Day 2 Kunming
Enjoy a day excursion to the Stone Forest (UNESCO), a typical Karst landscape formed some 270 million years ago. This geological wonder consists of limestone cliffs and peaks that have weathered into various shapes since their formation beneath the sea. Drive back to Kunming and wander the Flower and Bird Market.
Day 3 Kunming - Dali (by air or bus)
In the morning, transfer for the morning flight to Dali. Dali City is located on a fertile plateau nestled between the Cangshan Mountains to the west, and Erhai Lake to the east, which was traditionally settled by the Bai ethnic group.
Meet the guide and take on a tour of the Dali Old Town to capture its charm with narrow cobbled streets and traditional stone architecture.
Then you will tour the famous Three Pagodas of Dali, the precious treasure and main landmark in Dali.
Afterwards, you can enjoy a boat cruise on the Erhai Lake, which is reputed as the pearl on plateau for its charming scenery.
Day 4 Dali
Hiking hour: 7 hours
Today’s highlight is Cangshan Mountain which enjoys great reputation for its snow, clouds, springs and marble. Mt. Cangshan is made of 19 peaks and in between every two peaks are streams from which the water rushes down the mountain and pours into Erhai Lake.
After being transferred to Cangshan Mountain, you take the chair-lift to Zhonghe Temple to have a visit.
Then start hiking on Yudai Road (altitude: 2,700 meters) for about 7 hours. You will pass Zhongxi Stream, Lvyuxi Stream, Qilongnv Pool and Qingbixi Stream en route.
Take the Qingbixi Cable Car to the parking lot and transfer to the hotel.
Day 5 Dali - Jianchuan County - Shaxi Town
Hiking hour: 5 hours
In the morning, you take a drive to Jianchuan County. Upon arrival, take a stroll in Jianchuan Old Town where you can visit the well-preserved wooden structure houses handed down from Ming or Qing Dynasty.
Then drive to Shibao Hills Scenic Region. The Shibao Hills scenic region consists of Haiyunju Temple, Baoxiang Temple and Shizhong Grottoes. First, you hike to Haiyunju Temple (20 minutes) where lies the gate of the Shibao Hills. Then take the steps and head to Baoxiang Temple (40 minutes) which has a reputation of the “Suspended Temple”. Hiking for another 1.5 hours to Shizhong Grottoes where one hundred and thirty-nine statues of Buddha in 16 grottoes are scattered.
Continue to hike to Shaxi Town and visit Sideng Village which is a former vibrant hub along the Tea and Horse Caravan Trail, an important branch of the Silk Road.
Day 6 Shaxi Town - Shigu Town - Qiaotou - Zhongnuoyu Village
Hiking hour: 3 hours
In the morning, take an overland drive to Shigu Town, where the Golden Sand River does a U-turn and flows northward. After visiting the town and looking the First Bend of Yangtze River far in the distance, drive to Qiaotou (altitude: 1,850 meters).
After lunch, the local guide will go with you to start the trek along the upper trails of Haba Mountain to Zhongnuoyu Village (altitude: 2,250 meters). The total trekking distance is around 6 kilometers.
Overnight in Naxi Family Guest House.
Day 7 Zhongnuoyu Village - 28 Bends - Two Families Guest House - Bendiwan Village - Dashengou
Hiking hour：3 hours
In the morning, hike 1.5 hours to “28 Bends”. Then you will pass through the “28 Bends” which is a section of winding ascent. It takes more than half an hour to finish hiking it and reach the summit where you can enjoy the magnificent view of Jade Dragon Mountain to your opposite.
After 1.5 hours you will arrive at the Two Families Guest House (altitude: 2,320 meter). Go on hiking and have lunch in the Tea & Horse Guest House.
Continue from Tea & Horse Guest House to Bendiwan Village (altitude: 2,410 meters) and then to the Dashengou (altitude: 2,060 meters).
The total trekking distance is around 20 km.
Overnight in Tina’s Guest House.
Day 8 Dashengou - Walnut Grove - Daju Town - Lijiang
Hiking hour: 2.5 hours
From Dashengou, trek 45 minutes to Walnut Grove to have a simple visit.
Then take a local vehicle to drive 40 minutes to Yongke village. From Yongke, trek 40 minutes to the pier and take a ferry boat to cross the Golden Sand River to the Old Pier (altitude: 1,650 meters) on the other side of the River. From Old Pier, hike 1.5 hours to Daju. The mini-van and driver will meet you at Daju and transport you to Lijiang (3.5 hours).
The total trekking distance is around 8 kilometers.
Day 9 Lijiang
You will have a full day to explore the city of Lijiang.
You will begin by visiting the Old Town of Lijiang (UNESCO), which is the best-preserved ancient town in China and well-known for its distinctive Naxi culture and ancient buildings.
Soon visit the crystal Black Dragon Pool with the superb vistas of the nearby Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Then tour the Baisha Fresco situated in the northern part of Lijiang. You will find an assortment of over 600-year old preserved murals.
Afterwards, discover the Yuhu Village, a simple village of Naxi minority with the Former Residence of Dr. Joseph Rock, an Austrian-American scholar who was one of the first westerners to spread the long-isolated Naxi culture worldwide.
Day 10 Lijiang – Kunming (by air)
Today you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Kunming.

Day 1: land in lijiang airport-Lijiang old town-local vegetable maket

Pick up in lijiang interantional airport, and drop you in the hotel of lijiang .in the afternoon, meet you in the hotel, take you to visit a Local naxi vegetable market , visit the squre market, walking around oldtown of lijiang, you can see many old building, beautiful canals, and ancient stone briage  You will understand why lijiang is called “venice in the east” Then you may find a nice cafe near the canal, enjoying the cosy living situation in lijiang. Then climb to the top lion hill enjoyed bird view of old town.

2. Have a relaxing walking in lijiang old town
3. Climb lion hill and enjoy birdview of lijiang oldtown

Day 2:Yuhu village-Baisha village-Naxi ochestra

After you had breakfast, meet you in the lobby, drive you to yuhu village,20km north of lijiang, visit the house of Dr. J.F Rock who was a former residence of American Austrian, he stay in lijiang for 27 years from 1922 to 1949, his house was the former headquaters of American national Geographic sociaty’s Yunnan expidition. Then we continue our tour to Baisha villiage, Baisha was the capital of naxi kingdom ,where you will see naxi lady dressing in their traditional costume. You can enjoy a special naxi lunch in the local resturant.  Then visit dongba cultural musem to  learn some naxi hieroglyphic . enjoy famous naxi orchestra directed by Mr xuanke at  night , when you are enjoying the 500 years old music, you will enjoy Mr xuanke’s story and humor too.

Day 3. Lijiang-first bend of yangtze river-liming tortoise’s mountain

You will check out today from lijiang hotel, meet you in the lobby and drive to shigu,  it is called stone drum in english. visit the first bend of yangtze river, then visit the mounument of red army and the village. Drive to liming, then we will limb to the top of mountain, on the top ,we can see thousands of tortoise’s shap sand rock. You will see the most famous dangxia landform in south china.  If  the weather is good , you can see stunning sunset in the valley.

2. have relaxing walk in stone drum village
3. climbing tortoise’s mountain in liming

Day 4. liming valley-tiger leaping gorge—lijiang

After breakfast, we will have relaxing walk in liming valley, enjoy the masterpiece of great nature, You will be amazed at the danxia landform ,the graver of mother nature, Then drive to tigerleaping gorge, on the way to tiger leaping gorge, you can see snow caped peak of jade dragon snow mountain. Tiger leaping gorge is 3900m deep, just between jade dragon snow mountain and haba snow mountain.  it’s one of the deepest gorge in the world . a perfect place for a lesure walk for 1.5 hours. Then we drive back to lijiang

You can see lisu ethnic group go to church on Sunday dressing the traditional clothing in liming. lisu people were converted into christian by french missionary in 19 century,even nowadays, christianity is still a popular religion in the village.

Yuhu village,baisha village, dayan oldtown one day tour

• Pick up from hotel at 09:00, driving to yuhu village, walking around in yuhu, visit the former house of Joseph F. Rock(1884-1962).   then go to baisha, visit baisha vilage--the former capital of naxi kingdom,  visit Naxi family and bean jelly workshop see how to make bean jelly. have luch in baisha.
