Panda volunteer programs offer a unique chance to care for giant pandas, assist keepers with daily tasks, and learn about conservation efforts. Volunteers typically help prepare food, clean enclosures, and observe panda behavior. These programs often support wildlife protection while providing an unforgettable hands-on experience.

*Activity process:

6:30 Gather at the airport bus boarding point at Chunxi Road IFS and go to Dujiangyan Panda Base.

8:30 Pre-job training, bring relevant information (ID card, passport, etc.), arrive at the second floor of the Science Center to report and sign the safety agreement, the staff will explain the precautions of the activity, collect work clothes and gloves, and go to the feeding point to work.

9:00 Under the guidance of the keeper and science teacher, clean the inside and outside enclosures of the giant pandas, pick up panda feces, add fresh bamboo to the giant pandas, and clean the panda enclosures.

There are still 2 panda santuries in Sichuan Province allow people to hug a panda cub and take pictures, Dujiangyan Panda Center and Wolong Panda Center.

It requires 1800 Yuan donation to the Panda Sanctury to hug a panda for about 30 seconds,expensive but for panda fans, it will be one of their sweetest time in lives.

The tour to hug a panda cub is very simple, you can just hire a non-English speaking driver to take you to the right place at the right timing. Ask me to book the panda hugging for you in ahead.

Pick up from Chengdu down town at 8AM, transfer to Dujiangyan Panda Center (1.5hours car ride).

Drop off at Chengdu down town, tour ends around 1PM.

Cost of the 5 hours tour is USD60 in total for a group (max 4Person) including private driver and car.

1.5-hour drive to Dujiangyan Panda base . Arrive at this base and commence the program. 

Receive a uniform and meet the panda keepers who will introduce you to the procedures of the program. In the morning session, feed the pandas, clean their enclosures

Enjoy a simple lunch at noon, arranged in the canteen. If you don't want to eat a meal in the canteen, you can be escorted to a local restaurant run by farmers near the center, but you must pay for the meal at your own expense. Rest for an hour from 1-2pm and relax with a panda movie. 

During the afternoon session, continue working with the adorable pandas. This work will include cleaning bamboo, weighing pandas’ feces (an important way to monitor their health condition) and attending a panda lecture to learn about progression of pandas from infancy to adulthood. 

make panda cakes (which is made of beans , salt , sugar and corn etc) ,  later the staff will steam the cakes , it requires about 4-5 hours  steaming , so the cakes will be eaten for the next day by the pandas 

After the afternoon session and the pandas’ second feeding, have a break and walk around the panda base for leisure and fun. The program finishes at around 4pm and you will receive a panda volunteer certificate to commemorate this meaningful day. Your guide and driver will then escort you back to your hotel in Chengdu.

7:00 a.m. Your driver will pick you up from your downtown Chengdu hotel and drive you to Dujiangyan.

8:30 a.m. Arrive at Dujiangyan Panda Base where you will register as a volunteer. Your experience will consist of working closely with panda keepers and the pandas in their enclosures. In the morning, your main duties will be to clean the panda enclosures, prepare food and feed the pandas.

12:00 p.m. Break for lunch at a local restaurant.

2:00 p.m. After lunch, an action-packed afternoon of more panda volunteer activities will follow. Feed the pandas again and make notes of their afternoon activities. Expand your knowledge of this incredible animal by learning from experts and get a certificate acknowledging your work as a panda volunteer.

4:00 p.m. Depart for Chengdu

6:00 p.m. Return to hotel
