Wenfeng monastery was  firstly built in 1733,  located on under Wenbifeng (Pen brush peak), It is one of the most important Tibetan Buddhism college around Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet. 

There is a sacred cave behind Wenfeng monastery ,  monks from Buddhist school around Yunnan and Sichuan will come to the meditation room for further education for 3 years. 

There is a nice trekking path from the entrance of monastery to the sacred cave, usually takes about 40min, you will hike uphill  through pine and oak forest.   after walked ~ 300m , you will see a beautiful Spring under Oaks trees,  Pilgrim and local people collect mineral water from here.   continue walk for 30min at the end of trekking,     you will find yourself  at the viewing point infront of the sacred cave, you can see Lijiang city in the valley and Jade dragon mountain in the north.  Wenfeng monastery had the best scenery among 5 monastery in Lijiang (Wenfeng monastery, Puji monastery, Zhiyun monasery, Yufeng monastery and Fuguo monastery). 

There is a huge black rock behind the monastery near the viewing point,  it is said kasyapa was teaching on the rock and left the key of  temples of Jizhu mountain in the black rock,  Before start jouney to holy Jizu mountain,   Pilgrims from Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet will firstly come to Wenfeng monastery to "Borrow " the key.     the key will be returned after their pilgrimage. 

Baoshan stone village is 110km north-west of Lijiang city,  behind of Jade dragon mountain scenic area.

Located on a huge rock near Yangtze river,   with 3 direction on the steep cliff , only had 2 entry stone gate in westside and east side.

The Naxi ancestors migrated to here in the 5th and 6th century and settled down on the huge rock, they worked very hard  to make terraced land near stone village, the farm production here are mainly crops,   beans and wheat and rice.    

In 1253th,  Mogolian military under the leadership of Kublaikhan crossed the Yangtze river nearby and had their military base in the stone village. 

Naxi people make good use of the landfrom and building the village like a slop on the rock, when you walk into the family, you can still see many old stone oven, stone beds and stone water container.  Autumn is a good season to visit stone village as you can see golden coloer crops and blue Color Yangtze river in the far distance .

There are many famous snacks on the street of Lijiang,  the most popular one is "Lijiang Pancake" or Lijiang baba.

There are two type of Lijiang Pancake/baba,  Sweet pancake  with suger and red bean paste inside , Salty one with ham inside.  It very delicious if you enjoy the cake and Lijiang bean jelly, yak butter tea at the same time!   

A authentic Lijiang pancake can be kept for several days in the natural conditions without changing its flavors,   So it became a popular food for picnic and merchants who Transport tea and other products on the anicents tea-horse road to Tibet .

WenChang palace in Lijiang was built in 1723AD in Qing dynasty,   it is a Daoism temple but also a mixture of  Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism . 

It is the largest Temple park in Lijiang old town.      Important ceremonies are hosted by local officials in ancient time on the 3rd of February in the lunar calendar.     celebrities, scholars, students will take part in the ceremonies to worship the god of Wisdom,  Sacrifices are offered in the temple,  praying for rain and good harvest,  Good fortunes for Students in the exams and good fortune for wealth.

You can see some old photo of Joseph Rock's advantures around Yunnan and Tibet in 1930th in the exbition room.   there is a old town viewing point outside of the Temple,  you can enjoy a bird eye view of Lijiang old town and roofs from there.

One of the most breathtaking landscapes not just in China, but in the world – Tiger Leaping Gorge boasts the snow-capped peaks, dramatic cliffs, and terraced farms that inspired the landscapes of Kung Fu Panda.

Hikes vary in length and difficulty, but you’d be hard-pressed to find somebody returning from the gorge without a sense of wonder.

It’s not easy to get there on the uneven roads, but it’s worth the effort.
