This venue offers two floors of fun and each floor provides contrasting atmospheres. On the second floor patrons enjoy more of a lounge type atmosphere. The space is divided into several small rooms that give the bar an intimate feel, making it an ideal place to bring a bunch of friends.

 

On the third floor you’ll find the disco. Simply put, the decor of the disco contains a lot of red! A large video screen hangs above the DJ booth and dance floor. The visuals are usually displaying very fashionable, sexy, and sometimes erotic imagery.

 

If you want to meet expatriates in Wuhan, the Blue Sky (蓝色天空咖啡) on Xinhua Street is the ideal place. It is also known as the French Terrace due to the large number of French patrons that are regulars at this joint. The Blue Sky plays good music and boasts a wide selection of food. Drinks are relatively cheap. Note that drinks are half price between midnight and 1 am not including the “hots”.

The Wuhan International Tourist Festival first took place in 2002, and is a much celebrated annual event held from the end of September to mid-October on the biggest avenue along the river (Yanjiang Dadao). It is somewhat comparable to a carnival in western countries as visitors will find joyful crowds of thousands, streets ablaze with activity, and grand parades accompanied by Chinese drum groups . Artists and performing groups from all over China as well as other countries are invited to present wonderful music, dancing, and acrobatic performances. The events last for more than twenty days. If you are lucky enough to be in Wuhan during this time of year, be sure to take in the excitment at the Wuhan International Tourist Festival.

Changchun Taoist Temple (Changchun Guan, 长春观) is the largest and most well-preserved Taoist Temple in Wuhan. The temple consists of numerous corridors and stone staircases,  entirely created from brick and wood, with grand eaves and arches suspended from the ceiling.

 

Many of the religious relics here were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. In recent years, many new halls have been added to enhance the religious value of the Temple. Today this place boasts the widest range of Taoist cultural relics in Wuhan.

 

Guiyuan Temple is located on Cuiwei Street in Hanyang district. It is one of the four biggest Buddhist temples in Hubei Province. It boasts a unique and immense collection of Buddhist doctrine among Buddhist temples. The temple features fine architecture, excellent sculptures and rich collections of Buddhist sutras and treasures. The temple was originally built in 1658 by two monks named Baiguang and Zhufeng.

 

The temple is divided into five courtyards, covering an area of 20,000 sq meters (4.94 acres). It consists of three halls: Mahavira Hall, Arhat Hall, and the Sutra Collection Pavilion.

Mahavira Hall is the main hall of the temple. The sculptures of Sakyamuni and his disciples are enshrined in this hall. A group of Guan-yin and Buddhist sculptures are situated behind Sakyamuni.

 

Arhat Hall is even more awe-inspiring due to its 500 sculptures. Some of the sculptures are sitting, some are standing, others are reading or contemplating, while still more are simply just happy or sad. Each of the 500 sculptures features a uinque pose and appearance which make the hall truly a mine of art.

 

Sutra Collection Pavilion was originally built in 1669, but was destroyed during the war with the Japanese. In 1997 a new pavilion was built on the same site, replicating the original style and dimensions.
