Giant Pandas

Chinese Central Government gives totally four pandas to Hong Kong's Ocean Park to remember Hong Kong's 1997 handover. They are An An, Jie Jie, Ying Ying and Le Le.  Jie Jie is now 37-year old (111-year old human), which is the oldest panda in captivity.

Racing Horses
There are about 1500 thoroughbreds in the Sha Tin Race Course of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. They are all imported from the Western countries. They race between September and July. Like the students, they enjoy a long summer holiday.

Great Egrets
Great Egrets are Hong Kong's common resident birds. They catch fish at the river and wetland. You can see them at Hong Kong Wetland Park or Luk Keng Road Lookout Point. Another type of bird, the Little Egrets with the black beak, WON'T become the Great Egrets when they grow up.

Chinese White Dolphins
The unlucky Hong Kong is trying the best to save the endangered mascot, Chinese White Dolphin. They live near the northern part of Lantau Island, where there are lots of construction works.

中國中央政府總共把四隻大熊貓(安安、佳佳、盈盈、樂樂)送到香港的海洋公園以紀念香港回歸中國。佳佳現已三十七歲，為世上年齡最大的人工飼養大熊貓。

純種賽馬

在香港沙田馬場，有約一千五百隻純種賽馬，牠們是各育馬國家的「貴價出口貨品」。牠們在九月至七月馬季出戰大小賽事，然後像學生一樣，享受一個漫長暑假。

大白鷺

黃喙的大白鷺是香港常見的留鳥，在河涌和濕地捕食。有著黑喙的小白鷺和大白鷺並非同類，故「小」的長大後，不會變成「大」的！在香港濕地公園、鹿頸等地可見牠們的影蹤。

中華白海豚

香港正在努力保育香港的瀕危吉祥物 – 中華白海豚。牠們主要生活在有許多建築工程的大嶼山以北海域，故生存面臨重大威脅。

Must-go: Man Mo Temple at Sheung Wan
Better alternative: Lin Fa Kung Temple at Tai Hang
Man Mo Temple's incense coils for making wishes cause the temple to be too smoky. The smoke makes you 'cry' and cough. 

The half-octagonal shape Lin Fa Kung Temple is cleaner as it uses the electric lotus flower lamp.  You can also learn the history of Fire Dragon Parade at this temple for the Goddess of Mercy.

Must-go: Sky-100 Observation Deck at ICC building

Better alternative: The Peak, West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade and the highest bar in the ICC Building
The 175HKD ticket price for Sky-100 may be not reasonable.  The fixed windows cause reflection, which makes photo taking difficult. 

The traditional Victoria Peak or new West Kowloon Waterfront promenade are free of charge.  You can make 'one payment to get two enjoyments' (drink and view) at the highest bar in the World in the same ICC building.

Must-go: Harbour cruise in the Victoria Harbour

Better alternative: Different public ferry rides
Harbour cruises sail around the Victoria harbour for about 2 hours.  After 15 minutes, you may feel boring. 

You can actually be a local to take public ferry rides to see more and learn more.  Like the North Point to Hung Hom Ferry ride, apart from the sea view, you can visit the seafood market at the North Point Pier and try the shopping and culinary options near Hung Hom Pier.

Must-go: Tai O Fishing Village on Lantau Island

Better alternative: Sai Kung Fishing Village
Tai O's traffic is inconvenient.  The stream may have stench during low tide.  Some of you may not like the strong smell of the dried seafood.  The 'Venice in the East' may fall short of the reality.

Sai Kung Fishing Village is easily accessible from the city.  The reasonably priced fresh seafood at the 'Seafood Street' and beaches on the nearby Sharp Island with good water quality are waiting for you.

維港海上遊一去最少兩小時，或許十五分鐘後，你已覺得沉悶。

其實你可以像香港市民一樣乘搭各條港內渡輪航線，例如你可先參觀北角碼頭的海鮮市場，再乘船觀海景，最後在紅磡碼頭黃埔花園吃飯購物。

必到景點：大嶼山大澳漁村

更佳代替品：西貢漁村
大澳交通不便，河流在低潮時或有異味，鹹魚海味氣味充斥小鎮，「東方威尼斯」或許名不副實。

西貢可從市區直達，交通便利，海鮮街有價廉物美的的新鮮水產，附近的橋咀島有水清沙幼的海灘，都等著你去品嘗和暢泳。

(1) Cheung Kong Center
The headquarter of Mr Li is architect Cesar Pelli's masterpiece in Central.  The building design is conventional, which shows the owner's low profile character.  You can see this skyscraper, which has 68 floors and 268 m, from the Victoria Peak.

(2) Lamma Island Power Station

From the Victoria Peak, you can also see Mr. Li's power station on the Lamma Island.  If you want to get closer to the power plant, which has 3 chimneys, and visit Li's wind turbine, you can go hiking on the Lamma Island.

(3) Whampoa Garden 'Ship on the land'

The ship-like building to remember the old dockyard in Mr. Li's property development, Whampoa Garden, is a Japanese style department store.  After taking the selfie outside, you can enjoy shopping and good food inside.

(4) Hong Kong Golf Club

Mr. Li often plays golf there.  Apart from playing golf with him, you can also go to the Deep Water Bay Beach nearby to enjoy sunbathing, swimming and good food.

(5) Tsz Shan Temple & Goddess of Mercy statue

The Buddhist temple, which is a traditional Chinese wooden architecture, and the statue, which has 76 m and is the second tallest in the world, are donated by Mr. Li.  You may apply to visit the temple or just see the statue from outside when you are riding bicycle there.

長江中心是李嘉誠企業皇國的總部，樓高六十八層，二百六十米高，從太平山頂，你就可見到這座有著低調設計的摩天大廈。

為了紀念黃埔花園前身黃埔船塢的「黃埔號遊輪」，其實是一間日式百貨公司，你在外面自拍後，就可到「船艙」飲食購物了。

(4) 香港哥爾夫球會

李先生常常在此打球。除了跟他較量一下，你也可到對面的深水灣泳灘，享受日光浴和美食。

(5) 慈山寺和觀音像

傳統中式木建築慈山寺和有七十六米高、為世界第二高的觀音像，均為李先生捐建。如未能成功申請入內參觀，你到附近踏單車時也可看到觀音像。
