Day 1: Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) - Pick up at the airport in Ho Chi Minh city - the largest city in Vietnam which is called “the Pearl of the Far East“. Spend four nights in HCMC. (No meals and guide today)

Day 2: HCMC & Cu Chi tunnels - Morning tour to visit Ho Chi Minh, including Reunification Hall which is the former Presidential Palace. Have a walk to visit China town, passing Notre Dame Cathedral, Old Sai Gon Post Office. After lunch drive to visit the Cu Chi tunnels, an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the struggle for independence. Return to HCMC for night. (Meals included: breakfast, lunch)

Day 3: Departure - Morning at leisure before transfer to the airport for your flight. (Meals included: breakfast - No guide today)

Itinerary:

We will pick you up from hotel at 8.30 or 13:00, then transfer to Cu Chi tunnel area. We will visit a network of 200km long underground dug-out which was being used during the Vietnam – USA war.

There is little evidence to indicate the intense fighting, bombing and destruction that went on in Cu Chi during the war.

We will return Ho Chi Minh city at 12.30 or 17:30

Located 60km from HCMC, Cu Chi is now a popular spot for both Vietnamese & foreign tourists - the network of over 200km of tunnels became legendary when they played a vital role in the War. In their heyday, the tunnels were functioning underground cities including numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers & kitchens.

Today, ducks and water buffalos happily co-exist in the rivers along the side of the road. However, the peaceful rural rice paddy scenery belies the area’s violent history. Visitors will find it hard to imagine the destruction, damage & defoliation over this whole area, caused by bombing and mines. There is plenty of evidence of the fierce battle that took place here during the 1960s when Cu Chi was a "Free Target Zone". 

Before entering the tunnels visitors can watch a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed. You will spend the next hour exploring the tunnels. Afterwards, enjoy tea, cassava (guerrilla’s food during the war)
