The first part is Guhua Pavilion, which was named after an old tree---Qiu Tree (Catalpa bungei). This tree has four-time regenerations from withering away. For appreciating this tree, Emperor Qianlong specially ordered to build this pavilion and wrote a pair of couplet: 明月清风无处藏, 长楸古柏是佳朋. Emperor Qianlong loved poems and writing poems. Wherever he went, he always liked wrote some poems or left his wall poems to the local, but his poem was not as excellent as his grandfather Emperor Kangxi’s. (Qianlong was a skillful and talented emperor among many ancient emperors and he was extremely respected his grandfather who was Emperor Kangxi, a rare respectable and successful emperor in ancient China. Emperor Qianlong set his grandfather as example everywhere. Emperor Kangxi’s poem and calligraphy were excellent, but Emperor Qianlong was not, although he left us many poems and calligraphic works).

Qianlong garden also named Ningshougong Garden was an established garden when Emperor Qianlong built Ningshougong(Palace of Tranquil Longevity). Qianlong garden is publicly agreed to be the essence of garden of palaces. It is located at the northwest area of Ningshougong of Beijing Forbidden City. The constructing time is 6 years. The garden has a length of 160 meters from south to north and 37 meters wide from east to west. It covers 5920 square meters with a delicate layout. The main buildings in garden are Guhuaxuan, Xuhui Pavilion, Yang Zhai, Suichu Hall, Zhuxiangguan, Cuishang Tower, Yanqu Tower and Biluo Pavilion and so on. Totally, there are more than 20 buildings in garden.

The mosquito net and quilt were all embroidered and made elaborately by handcrafters in Southern China. On the mosquito net and quilt, there are hundreds of playing boys with different expression, so they were also called Hundred-Son Bed and Hundred-Son Mosquito Net. During the emperor’s wedding period, the emperor needed to live in Kunninggong (Palace of Earthly Tranquility) for two days, and then moved to other palaces. But the emperor married before his enthronement, he would not have such a treatment. Hence in Qing dynasty, only Emperor Kangxi, Emperor Tongzhi, and Emperor Guangxu once used this chamber for wedding. By the way, the wedding of Emperor Puyi was also held here. After the reign of Emperor Yongzheng, the emperors all moved to Yangxindian, and empresses did not live in Kunninggong (Palace of Earthly Tranquility) either. Hence in fact, Kunninggong (Palace of Earthly Tranquility) became the special place for sacrifice and worshipping of Shamanism.

I'll pick you up at 8:00 am in your hotel, and transfer to Bajiao Zhai Village by our private van. On the way, you can enjoy some terraced fields, bamboo groves and the wooden residences of the natives.(3.5 hours by ride) 2.
