This is an insense burner used to burn sandlewood during grand ceremonies. They are altogether 18 burners, representing the 18 provinces in Qing Dynasty.
Four bronze vats are placed on the two sides outside the hall, which represent territorial integrity and were once used to store water to prevent fire.
Placed on the east and west sides of terrace are a bronze crane and a tortoise, the emblems of longevity.
The thing made of bronze is called JiaLiang. It was the standard of measurement indicating that the emperor treats everything fairly and knew everybody's conduct clearly.

There are 72 pillars surporting the whole palace. Six of them are carved with dragon designs and gilded with gold encircled the throne.

On top of six pillars is a cassion ceiling with a Xuanyuan Mirror hanging in the middle. The XuanYuan Mirror is said to be created by Emper XuanYuan (also know as Emperor Huangdi ) in ancient times.
The emperor had this mirror hung here in order to show that he was the legitimate emperor. And the mirror was placed just over the throne.
However, the mirror is not right over the throne. It is said that Yuanshikai was afraid that the mirror might drop and injure him. So he had it moved a little bit to the present site.

In the center of the hall, there is a 2-metre high platform, upon which is placed the wooden throne carved with nine dragons.

on the two sides are decorations of an elephant, crane, unicorns and the other real and mythical creatures.
The elephant is carring a vase in which grains are stored, which signifies peace and bumper harvest.
Unicorns are imaginary animals in ancient chineses mythology. They are said to be travel 18,000 km a day and can speak every language in the country. They only come to escort the aboveboard emperor with books.

I'll pick you up at 8:00 am in your hotel, and transfer to Bajiao Zhai Village by our private van. On the way, you can enjoy some terraced fields, bamboo groves and the wooden residences of the natives.(3.5 hours by ride) 2.
