This is a combination of visiting monastery and hiking in virgin wood forest. Interesting flora, stones and bird may be seen on route. After hike is over, can drive you back to your hotel if needed. Aladzha Monastery was established 11-12th century when the hermits first inhabited it. However, its caves were inhabited early in the Byzantine period, as the monastery was under the influence of a religious teaching which was spread in Byzantine and Bulgaria at that time. 

The first archaeological finds, coins and pottery pieces were found in the caves.

The religious movement taught about the energy of God - "isichasm" or "hesychasm" (a religion with a main principle of silence and of isolation from the society). 

Under the influence of ‘isichasm’ the holy rock cloister experienced its heyday during the time of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. 

The life in Aladzha Monastery declined when Bulgaria fell under Ottoman Rule.

The name of Aladzha Monastery comes from the word of Turkish origin for colourful ("aladjha", ” aladja”) due most probably to the bright colours of its wall paintings, dating back to the early Middle Ages. 

Presumably all unique creations and frescoes in the monastery by the monks must have been bursting with colour at one time.

Differently coloured incredible frescoes dated back to 13th-14th century can be still seen on the walls of Aladzha Monastery, but only few of them are preserved.

Aladzha Monastery was declared a national monument of culture and antiquity.

Varna Airport pick up and send off service, from Varna city, and surrounding resorts - Golden Sands, St. Constantine and Helena, Kamchiya, Obzor, ext. When there is enought time, half day tour may be provided. We provide useful information on where to go and what to see, where to eat, while we travel on the way to your guesthouse, hotel or home-stay. The ride to downtown is normally 20-30 min, however at the time being due to road construction around Varna, the ride could take up to 1 hour. Our vehicle is comfortable vagon with capacity for 4 people, nevertheless we can arrange bigger vehicle when needed.

This is a day trip to the Roman Baths (Rimski Termi) of Odessos. Built more than 1000 years ago, there wonderful ruins represent the glory of Roman bathing culture, and the amazing architectur, that stands still even today! The thermal baths are located in the old Greek quarter of Varna, its a maze of streets that is designed to get you lost, a defensive strategy implemented by the Greeks in order to confuse the enemy. There is a nice old Church near by, as well as museums and old town roads. Old varna has a distinctive characte, its a blend of ancient Greek, some Baroque and traditional Bulgarian architecture.
