We had a wonderful time in Yunnan with Steven and Leo our driver. Our stops included Yuanyang, Dali and Lijiang. Steven's English is excellent, as is his knowledge of the region. He was very helpful with finding the best local places to eat in with no tourists around. He did everything possible to arrange anything we asked for. I highly recommend his services. We just had two separate 3-day trips with Steven, one Kunming-Jianshui-Yuanyang-Kunming, and one Dali-Lijiang-Shangrila, and we couldn't have wished for a better driver. Not only is Steven a safe driver, he's also very knowledgable and helpful, and he speaks fluent English, so it was like we had a driver and a guide in one person. We found Steven through this website and a general search for English speaking drivers in Yunnan. I sent over a plan of what we would like to do with a few days in Yunnan, and Steven was fantastic at communicating exactly what was possible and how much it would cost, along with the reasons why, when I compared his prices to another quote I had. In the lead up to our trip, I kept in touch with details, and Steven made sure we knew who was picking us up, what the contact information was, etc. He even wrote in advance to say that we would not need a guide for one aspect of the trip, so that the price would be reduced. Thus, it was a great delight to finally be able to visit and spend time with Steven as we made our way to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Lijiang Old Town, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Shangri-La! We had an amazing time in just a few days, and owe it all to Steven's exceptional communication and organizational skills. My wife and I were very pleased to have found Steven to take us from Lijiang to Shangri-la over 2 days in early December. We had wanted to see Shangri-la and to enjoy the scenery along the way. Steven is very knowledgeable of the area and more importantly accommodating to our needs. He drove us to key sights and arrange for meals along the way. For anyone who wants to see Shangri-la and enjoy the journey to the paradise, Steven is highly recommended. Not forgetting to drop by his Szechuan restaurant when you’re back in Lijiang. My friend and I have just spent a fantastic three days around Lijiang and Shangrila. We especially appreciated Steven Wen's services for the following reasons: 1). He was a superb, considerate and safe driver. 2). His English was excellent. 3). He was very knowledgeable and respectful about the region, its history and customs. 4). What distinguished him the most was his sense of adventure. He readily went to remote, non-touristy places, off the scheduled path, and really seemed to enjoy the adventure along with us.
