My wife, my two boys (age 9 and 6) and I spent 4 wonderful days in Zhangjiajie. Jeffery took us everywhere we wanted and shared interesting facts about the area. We were in awe of everything we saw and Jeffery made it easy to see everything. He took care of everything for us. He organized the transportation, booked our hotel, took care of all the tickets, helped with the health codes, and so forth. It was the easiest trip we have been on logistically. It was also 4 days of great sites and amazing nature. Jeffery was great with our kids and he always answered their questions or would walk with them and have a conversation. I would recommend Jeffery to anyone that needs a guide when visiting Zhangjiajie; I would also recommend getting a guide and not trying to do everything for yourself. My sister and I decided to use Jeffrey Tang Ming as our guide to explore the vast national parks and UNESCO World Heritage site of Zhangjiajie and Wulingyuan in Hunan Province, China during 7 to 10 Nov 2019. Navigating to the best of the sites in the 154 square mile Wulingyuan Scenic Area which is bisected throughout by mountain ranges requires either lots of time or in depth research and knowledge. Although my sister and I grew up in Asia and are comfortable navigating Asian crowds and sites, being with Jeffrey was like adding a timely human GPS to our trip. Despite the low season timing, we almost always avoided crowds at the sites because Jeffrey would take us a different way and of course he knew where the most beautiful settings were. Given the complexity of needing to have transportation from the exterior of each park section to the exterior of the next park section (because there is no cross-park transportation among the various composite parks – only inner park public transport) having Jeffrey’s wife as our exterior park driver provided seamless flow with no down time during our nine hour days. With decades devoted to tourists and 15 years dedicated solely to escorting foreigners in China, Jeffrey was an excellent guide with impeccable English and manners. He would make an excellent and patient guide for any size group or situation; my sister and I are mid-sixties avid bird and landscape photographers and Jeffrey showed great patience with our frequent delays. (We were his first-ever birders!) Jeffrey was flexible according to our needs, flipping our first day’s schedule to accommodate my sister’s late arrival in town. Although we outlined what we wanted to see in advance, I believe we could have said we have four days and he would have created a similar itinerary. Jeffery’s major expertise lies in Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang, which are key tourist sites but time-consuming to travel to. However, he also escorts foreigners throughout China and as a result some of his clients published books and photographs focused on isolated locations. At the end of our four days we estimated we shared 80,000 footsteps with Jeffrey and it was definitely time well spent. Read less

If you are looking for a guide in West Hunan and Zhangjiajie, I would highly recommend Jeffrey Tang Ming.Me and my partner had a one week tour with him. I had one of the most authentic trips in my life. Jeffrey understood from the start that i would like to visit more off the beaten track villages away from many tourists and although I visited China the most touristic period (the first week of October) we hardly saw any tourists most of the days. We visited unique villages, and even in Zhangjiajie we visited less known places.. I am an amateur photographer and so is Jeffrey, and he knew to take me to great spots for photography, but also help us with food and with booking trains and communicate with taxi drivers :) Jeffrey is a great person and he would go the extra mile to help you with everything. About 2 weeks ago, my parents and I visited Zhangjiajie for 3 days with our tour guide, Jeffrey. We found Jeffrey to be reliable, punctual and honest. He replied many of our queries promptly via email for our trip and his price is reasonable. He even brought us to the non-touristy locations so that we could enjoy the best scenery in addition to the main attractions. At times, he even managed to shorten our queuing time. I reached out one day before my desired tour date to Jeffrey via WeChat and he responded quickly with a suggestion for a tour. We met the next morning at the hotel lobby and he took us around the Zhangjiajie National Park. It was definitely worth having Jeffrey as our guide as he saved us a lot of time by taking us directly to where we need to go (and sometimes found ways to skip long lines)! Even better, he took us to less crowded places as he saw we didn’t enjoy the big crowds (thank you!). His English is very good and he is gentle and non-intrusive (ie doesn’t talk too much or get into the way of our day, but is available to answer questions and show us around).
