About Me

10 years ago I travel from Hong Kong to Lijiang, Yunnan Province and found Yunnan is rich in nature beauty and human culture. I become so passionate about Yunnan to the point where I made Lijiang my home for ten years as a tour guide. In 2016, I moved back to Hong Kong to take care of my old mother. I live on Lamma Island now, the third largest island in Hong Kong.

My passion in life is photography and wild life. Hiking around the area make me familiar with the best places for photography. I love traveling and making friends. I love sharing these places I know so well with others.

Every tour can be customized to your interest. I prefer smaller group to keep it private and flexible. I offer day trip island tours in Hong Kong.

I look forward to showing you the "real" Hong Kong Islands.

Ebenezer - your guide in Hong Kong, China

Ebenezer is a friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and very professional guide. He is able to tell us many interesting stories of the places we visit, especially in Lijiang. Even though our group are conversant in Mandarin, Ebenezer was still able to help us maneuver past all the queues and crowds as well as the corporate sales personnel in the various attractions. He really help smoothen our trip alot.

Appreciate his ability to let us travel away from the tour groups. As he knew quite a number of locals in the places we visit as well as good connections with the local tour operators, he is able to bring us to a tea house and have a relaxing afternoon of tea appreciation while the tourists hustle outside in the streets. Also through his connections and knowledge, he got whole of the knowledge that the rhododendron was blooming during our stay and make last minute changes to our itinerary so that we can catch the bloom.

Trekking is one of the must do when one travel in Yunnan. Knowing that our group are not the fittest hikers, he help to pace out hike and gave us encouragement along the way. He also help to break the hikes by giving us interesting snippets of the place at regular interval.

Would be happy to engage his service again if we ever go back to Yunnan.

We must say Ebenezer has to be one of the most professional and meticulous guides we have the pleasant opportunity to meet.

When we first contacted Ebenezer, we had only sketchy ideas of what we really wanted to do in Lijiang and ShangriLa. Despite mulling over all of the guidebooks and scanning through the internet for tips and clues. (English-language media lack the extensive information really needed to plan the 'perfect' trip out to these parts, sad to say). Luckily, Ebenezer made some suggestions based on his most honest opinions.

So, chuck those guidebooks and get into a conversation with Ebenezer. Go beyond Lijiang and the much-written about pit-stops. Step into the unknown and really let yourself go. If you really love the great outdoors, Ebenezer is the guy for you.

With just 4 days in late November to spend together, we drove from Lijiang - passing TLG - to ShangriLa. Day 2, we drove to Benzilan - making stops at the Nixi Village, known for its black pottery culture, then a memorable visit of the Dongzhulin Monastery (we had the wonderful and rare opportunity to visit all of the rooms on every floor due to an on-going refurbishing work), passing Moon Bay Valley before arriving for an overnighter in Feilaisi. Day 3, we started with the breathtaking Meili Xue Mountain - thanks to Ebenezer's spot-on recommendation. Then, a horse-ride up (with a few harrowing cliffhanging moments) to get close to the Mingyang Glacier! On the last day, we explored the Songzanlin Monastery in ShangriLa. All in all, memorable. Thanks, Ebenezer.

We have made our minds. When we come back next, we will most definitely get in touch with Ebenezer.

Till then, Ebenezer, take good care and be safe as always!

I had the pleasure of being with Ebenezer from October 23-26.  I found Ebenezer to be extremely reliable, knowledgeable, easy going and a pleasure to be with.  I appreciate his concern for the environment and his love of nature.  Living in Lijiang, as he does, you have to love nature because it is all around you.  I had heard about Lijiang but really knew nothing about it so Ebenezer put together an itinerary for me that was perfect for the amount of time I would be there.

We drove to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain which was a memorable experience combining beauty with physical adventure.  Ascending the mountain via cable car and then walking up to over 15,000 feet was a new experience for me.  I really appreciated Ebenezer's knowledge as he encouraged me to go slow and watch out for the ill effects of being at altitude.  I felt very confident being with Ebenezer.  It was a great day all around and the weather was gorgeous.

Another highlight of the trip was when Ebenezer took me to a hotel/tea house owned by some friends of his.  The people there were incredibly nice and gracious.  I really appreciated this personal touch offered by Ebenezer.  On different days we also visited Lijiang Old Town, the Black Dragon Pool Park and drove to the Tiger Leaping Gorge.  We went to the Impression Lijiang Show highlighting the Naxi minority group, visited other small towns and had some memorable meals.

On my next trip to Yunnan I plan to have Ebenezer be my guide to Dali and Shangri La.  Ebenezer was terrific and I would highly recommend him to be your guide in Yunnan province.  You won't regret it.

Before getting to China is where Ebenezer's best work was done; to make our time with him as fruitful, yet as easygoing, as possible.  Lots of emails and chats on Skype took place.

From the time we first met Ebenezer at the wisely chosen Yinfeng Hotel in Dali's Old Town we felt reassured and comfortable that he was the right man for the job.  By the end of the trip our view was that people who are new to a region and don't choose a local guide are probably wasting a lot of their time "administering" their travels rather than enjoying their holiday. Ebenezer always had options for us to consider if we were too long somewhere, or felt we never needed to see something that was similar to what we saw earlier.  Or, we could see it or do it later if we felt like it: Such was the flexibility and freedom of our time with Ebenezer.  That said, we packed a fair deal into the days and stretched these into the evenings on occasions.  Maybe there was something on our original schedule that we missed, but we were too busy enjoying ourselves to even think of looking at what we were "supposed" to do.  Anyhow, we went to all the key places and they were often better than the glossy advertising that lured us in the first place.

While Ebenezer loves vegetables, he does enjoy eating meat, especially fish, with his guests. We ate too much, I have to admit, and most of it was wonderful. Not everyone will like yak buttermilk tea, but there are some things in life that need to be tried once: Like the freshly caught mountain trout done three ways: we shudder to think what it would have cost at a restaurant in Australia.

While we casually strolled around the many tourist venues, tour groups were invariably rushed through in a matter of minutes, constantly being barraged by information overload from their guide's loudspeakers and seldom getting time to shop. Ebenezer would tell us enough to invite questions, and let us browse the shops in our own time.

Ebenezer's knowledge of accommodation standards and prices ensured that each place we stayed at was hospitable, clean and comfortable. His assistance in choosing them, and then in offering choices of room was invaluable - including his negotiations with owners in Chinese (not something we could do) to get better prices, or breakfast included in the price.

Ebenezer is fluent in English (being Honk Kong born), and is acutely sensitive to his guests needs.  Once he had an idea of what foods we liked, we just let him order and it usually turned out better than we expected.  The trip turned out better than expected, and without Ebenezer it could have been quite traumatic trying to do what we did in the timeframe we did it.

Perhaps one of the most delightful features of using Ebenezer's guide service is returning home to find an email link to the holiday we had, that we can now follow via GPS, google earth, and photo highlight.  Deb and I will never use group tours again in China as the total ease and flexibility of Ebenezer's services has proven the value of the "personal touch".
