Alghero
Alghero is a city in the north-western Sardinia, in the province of Sassari famous for its Catalan-Gothic architecture preserved in buildings like Santa Maria Cathedral and Saint Francis Church. Founded in the XII c. by the Doria family from Genoa in XIV c. it went into Catalan-Aragonese hands. In the XIX c. became known as a center of coral fishing. After the Second World War Alghero became the first Sardinian city to be touched by "mass" tourism - the first visitors were mostly the ex RAF pilots, who during the 1943 bombing from their airplanes managed to have a glimpse of the coast around the city. Today Alghero is one of the principal tourism destinations in Sardinia. It has a huge tourist port and the airport Fertilia is just few kilometers away. Things to do here are: visit the old town (specially the picturesque ramparts), have some fresh sea food with local wine and buy coral souvenirs. The sandy long beach Maria Pia is practically in the town. If you are interested in archeology you can visit the nuraghe Palmavera and ancient tombs of Anghelu Ruiu.

Then we will walk onto the ramparts surrounding the old town and stop in a cafeteria for a cappuccino or for the best ice-cream in the town. If you wsh I can help you with choosing some souvenirs. We will proceed to Capo Caccia - a splendid limestone promontory. It's a perfect photo-stop. On the way I will illustrate you the battle Peter IV of Aragon fought against Doria family in the Porto Conte bay. We will stop at nuraghe Palmavera - one of 7 thousand mysterious 3 000 years old towers present on the island. If you feel like we can step down 654 steps to Neptune's Grotto, a fantastic sea-level cave - Sardinian star tourist attraction. (Remember that there will be 654 steps UP on the way back!)

The tour price doesn't comprises: entrance tickets to the nuraghe (3,50 EUR), Neptune's Cave (10 EUR) and an offering in the St. Francis church.
The tour can be personalized accordingly to your requests. There is walking through the town included (about 2 miles). Number of participants: 1 to 55. The price is indicative; it depends on number of participants and duration of the tour. For example: 3 people, 6 hours, private car with air conditioning - 90 USD per person; 7 people, jeep without air conditioning, 6 hours - 70 USD per person; 35 people, 6 hours, coach - 29 USD per person.
