I recently fulfilled my dream to visit Ethiopia. I'm glad I chose Yonas who was not only very professional but also turned out to be a good friend. Yonas is very knowledgeable, time conscious, a good teacher who describes everything so clearly and with a very good command of English. Most importantly, he matched my interests with places of interest in Addis ababa. I concluded my short tour with a fantastic cultural and traditional evening dinner. There are many tour guides for discovery Ethiopia and Addis Ababa... But Yonas is able to offer more. He is not only exellent guide with broad knowledge of all sights of Ethiopia, its history, culture, habits, food... What is priceless, he is a good teller, teacher and nice and good person too. I highly recommend Yonas as a tour guide. He has a vast knowledge of Addis Ababa where I was for most of my stay in Ethiopia and Ethiopian culture in general. His tours are not limited to just Addis Ababa but throughout Ethiopia. He had also booked a Lalibela trip for me which was simply amazing. He gives you the flexibility to tailor your trip to fit your fancy, in turn you feel at ease in his presence and the tours seem more like spending time with a good friend than the typical rigid and impersonal guides that most are used to. If I wanted to go somewhere that was not on the agenda for the day, I had no problem changing it as he was OK with my decisions as long as at the end of the day I was happy. Not many guides will afford you the opportunity to do that.  I can see why so many people are fond of him. He has a laid back attitude, yet very professional at the same time. I’ve also had the pleasure of knowing him on a personal basis and highly enjoyed my time in Addis meeting his wife, children and in-laws and can honestly say I have a friend in him and can’t wait to book my Southern Ethiopia tour with him next time.
To anyone reading this review, please don’t be on the fence about booking Yonas for your tours in Ethiopia. You will not regret it. If cost is an issue, he will work with you to tailor the tours to what works best within your budget; Don’t let that be the determining factor in choosing him. You can still have a fantastic time and get to see the highlights without breaking the bank and Yonny as he is affectionately known, will ensure that you and he work on an itinerary that will be satisfactory for both.
