I have just visited Lijiang with my wife last week for a 4 days tour. I had the fortune to hire Rosey and Mark as my guide and driver respectively. Both of them are very down to earth people and are very reliable and courteous. During our stay at Lijiang, Rosey was very patient in making suggestions to us on what to see and visit. We were taken to the Tiger Leaping Gorge and Shangrila, and of course, the Da Yin Ancient City and Suhu Ancient City. We were chaufered round by Mark, who drives efficiently but carefully. They worked together as a great team and I and wife thank them for bringing to us a memorable visit to Lijiang and we have no hesitation to recommend them to any intended visitors who are planning on visiting Lijiang.

I had the great fortune to meet Rosey through another synotrip guide.  We spent a day together visiting various monasteries around the Lijiang area with a cautious driver she hired  to take us to these sites.  Her English is excellent and she is pleasant company.  I tend to take a lot of photos and wanted to spend a fair amount of time in each place.  She let me set the agenda and was gracious and accommodating.  My experience at Wen Feng Si Monastery was one of the most memorable of this trip as we arrived auspiciously on Guru Rinpoche day and got to watch the resident monks consecrate giant statues of Buddhas and Boddhisattvas.  Rosey is kind, dependable, and honest.  When I visited her at her mother's cafe in Baisha, she bought me a Yunnan coffee.  Delicious!  

Since I was a solo female traveller and more comfortable with a female guide, I was recommended to Rosey by another guide.

Rosey turned out to be a gem! I booked her for a 2 day tour of the Tiger Leaping Gorge from Qiatou to Middle Gorge. She knows everybody on the trail as she grew up on the gorge. She also arranged for the transportation from Lijiang and the driver, "Ah Pom" was a very careful driver. 

I highly recommend Rosie as she is very reliable. She also arranged a mountain guide for me for the climb up Haba Snow Mountain.

I have just come back from a week's holiday in northern Yunnan and hired Rosey as my guide for 5 days. Rosey was born in the Tiger Leaping Gorge and now, when not guiding, runs a cafe in Baisha village with her mother so she knows the area very well and is well qualified to guide people around. I was staying in Lijiang and on the first day we hired a bike and cycled to Baisha. It is an attractive village to wander around with an interesting temple and we had lunch in Rosey's cafe before cycling a bit further into the countryside. The next day we took off for the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Rosey arranged for a car to take us to Qiaotou at the start of the trek. Although more costly than the bus it saves time and has the advantage that the car will deliver your main bag to the end of the gorge so it will be waiting for you at the end of the trek. The first day we reached the Tea Horse Inn where we stayed the night. It has rooms with bathroom and western toilet so is very comfortable for a mountain inn. The people there are very friendly and do a good pizza. The second day we walked to Walnut Garden at the end of the gorge and stayed in Sean's Guesthouse (run by Rosey's dad). This is also very comfortable. This took about 4 hours so in the afternoon we treked down to the point on the river where the mythical tiger is supposed to have jumped. The next day we hired a car to take us to Shangri-la via Haba and Baishuitai. This is a very scenic route (nicer than the route from Qiaotou I believe) with the Haba Snow Mountain in the distance and (in May) azaleas in flower on some of the hillsides.We enjoyed a yak hotpot meal in the evening and on the next day, Rosey took me to the big Buddhist monastery just outside the town and also round the old part of Shangri-la. And then, sadly, I had to return home. Rosey organised all the transport and accommodation, looked after me on the trek (I am not an experienced walker but it is not so dangerous as some accounts suggest) and altogether made the holiday a most enjoyable experience. Not only is she an excellent guide but also a very pleasant travel companion and I much enjoyed chatting to her along the route. Because of the language difficulties when traveling in China, it is tremendously helpful to have an English speaking guide and I can wholeheartedly recommend Rosey if you plan to travel in this area.

Just completed a 5-day outback trek with Rosey, a pint-sized local Lijiang guide who has over 5 years of treking experience, who brought us through the mountainous ranges of Tiger Leaping Gorge.

It was very physically demanding but overall a wonderful and fulfilling experience as we trekked through the mountain ranges, with the breathtaking view of the Tiger Leaping Gorge, by our side (most of the times).

We never had to fret about what to do and where to stay, as everything was arranged to our satisfaction and within our budget.

Our first day of trek brought us close to the Naxi people as we lived in the village of Wenhai. The facade of the Naxi building is kept intact but the interiors were all upgraded with hot water facilities and comfy beds. The next few days of trekking brought us through the meadows (filled with grazing cows, goats and horses) and crossing river streams was much to laugh about.

We even got to a close encounter with the Tiger Leaping Gorge (save for jumping into the waters) as we trekked all the way down and used the Ladder (Tian Qiao) to climb our way up...those who are afraid of heights, attempt with care.

We ended our trip at Shangrila with a surprisingly pleasant meal at a local and smallish diner (near Gucheng district) which specialises in yak meat (it was so yummy). You won't miss it as there are 2 which have yak carcasses hanging outside the shops.
