We booked John’s private transportation (a 9 seater van) to go to the Redland, the Yuanyang terrace and Jianshui old town in early Dec. Even though we only booked for a driver and car, John still worked as much as a guide for us. He is very knowledgeable of these places, as for local customs, where to go for photography, possible weather conditions at certain places, nearby resorts options, excellent food suggestions, and hotel arrangements (he booked hotel in Redland Dongchuan and Jianshui for us). Also a little surprising to us was he speaks very fluent English and with an American accent which allow pleasant , and we had a lot casual conversations just as friends.
At the first day, due to a heavy fog in Kunming airport, our landing had been delayed from 7am to 2:50pm. But John still waited and kept updating on flight information that he still picked us “on time” eventually.
John drive very well and is indeed a safe driver, this is even more precious when you saw a lot other Chinese drivers overtook in the road curves ruthlessly (oh, holy crazy!). John was also very punctual and service minded. John called us when he can't make it like once, due to road restriction his vehicle was not able to access to our hotel, but he called us on time and parked the car somewhere close then walked to meet us.)
It’s full of pleasant memories in this trip to be accompanied with John Xie,
