I rented a car from John and drive to Shangrila. As it was very long distance I wanted to make a bed in the back of minivan so I asked him to remove chairs. He did it without any problems and also offered me an inflating bed! As he is not living far from me, he also drop off the car straight in front of my flat. After the whole trip he gave me the receipt that I asked for... You can expect something more then you would in China (including his fluent English)! I definitely recommend his services. Keep on going like this John..! ;-)

I rent a car from John Xie for 16 days. One day when I drove on a highway, there’s a breakdown, I thought it might be the problem of the clutch disk. I called John, he offered to come and brought the necessary parts in an hour (the shortest time possible), he pulled the car with an mpv to the nearest repair garage, I suggested him that he can leave me there, but he insist to stay to make sure the problem could be fixed properly.   He paid the cost and offered the day free of charge. Even though we had a trouble unexpected, but John fixed it with professionalism, he’s very considerate to customer.  I would recommend his car rent service.

I have used John a couple of time for our trip around Kunming. I have found his services to be honest and reliable. What differentiates him from other operators is his willingness to go the extra mile for his customers, plus he speaks fluent English. If you're looking for a car rental service around Kunming and beyond, i would sincerely only recommend John.

At first, I went on a trip to Dongchuan with a group of friends. After asking my friend about where we found the driver, she had said that she had hired him through John Xie who happened to be able to speak english. As a traveler with limited Chinese language abilities and looking for a driver in order to complete my work in Kunming, I found John Xie's services to be just what I needed. It should be noted that John Xie was only my driver once- he organized other drivers to drive me as well. These drivers did not speak english. However, they knew my destination ahead of time so that I did not need to tell them. 

Every time I called John Xie, he was available to talk and discuss ride details. In addition, he would be willing to give me a price quote - and discuss my travel details- in English. I had called a few different driver services in Kunming and John Xie was also always the cheapest.

In addition I was so pleased with John Xie and his driver's services that I used his services 4 different times. On my last trip, he was even willing to give me a slight discount since I had used his services multiple times.

Note: If you need a receipt for your travels, you should request one ahead of time. 

We booked John’s guide and car to the Yuanyang terrace, and Jianshui ancient town in mid Dec, it turned out to be a wonderful trip. In Yuangyang, Instead of the little touristy mushroom roof villages (sorry to be picky, they are still very nice and convenient for the visitors) , John took us to the real pristine villages, named Niugo pu, Xiazhai and Laomeng market, Where you can see the real rural life and primitive culture (women work so hard there). We stayed overnight in a nice guest house right in the village, where we can see sunrise right through the window.  John’s Knowledge is quite impressive and informative, not only about the tour, but China’s education, housing, social welfare…   I would say he speaks an “Atlantic” English (an accent somewhere between Europe and US), very natural and comfortable.
   John made this trip easy, joyful and quite laid back for us.  My girlfriend and I really appreciate John’s help.

we have used John several times, most recently to stone forest. he is a terrific guide and driver, his cars are spotless. his English is very good (I thought he is an American when I first talked with him on phone) and he is very smort.John is very service oriented, and an excellent businessman. He is willing to work hard for you, flexible, accommodating and will get the done to your satisfaction. We can't recommend him highly enough.
