About Me

Hi. Frist Greetings.  I'm Eric Denny, an easy going,baby-faced guy with humor of his own style. So far, I've been an English guide for 8 years traveling and working in West China ( Provinces of Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan ) which actually I take as the most beautiful part of my country. Hunan is my lovely hometown. Besides being a guide, I'm  also a photographer and musician ( Folk song singer, traditional flute player). Traveling with me would definitely be fun.Not only could you enjoy the gorgeous natural sceneries, hear quite a lot of  interesting local stories, but also could relax with my music and jokes. Moreover, my SLR would record the happy moments of you when enjoying the travel, Working as a Professional and private photographer for guests from far is always a part of my happiness, You may receive tons of nice or surprising photos about your tour. If you happen to need a companion like this kind, just help yourself to reach me, I will be super honored to show you around at  places I know and you want to know.

OK, "Go with Eric, Love the world more!"  See you there.

Our family of four spent 3.5 days with Eric as our guide in Zhangjiajie. We were very happy to have him show us around the sights near his hometown. The arrangements went smoothly with Eric's prompt email responses so all the planning was taken care of in advance. Since we are not able to speak Chinese, we were happy to have Eric and his driver take care of all the logistics. Eric is very aware of the weather and possible wait times at each attraction. Our first two days were a bit foggy so the itinerary was revised accordingly. Luckily, we had great weather for Tianmen Mountain...impressive sights! We highly recommend Eric as a guide if you are visiting Western China!!! His English, humor, musical ability, and cooking skills (yes, he even cooked us lunch one day!) were all wonderful.
Eric, thanks for showing us around we hope to see you again in the future!

I'm very fortunate in that I get to travel...a *lot*. I've come across every type of salesperson and gimmick you can imagine in the last 10 years.

Eric - is the real deal.

Went to Zhangjiajie because I visit China 4-5x/year. Friend and I wanted to do something different outside of the cities. Eric weeks in advance helped us coordinate a ride to the hotel.

When we arrived, we had a very open idea of what we wanted to do. Eric with ease was able to give us recommendations on what to do, how long we would need, etc. Most people understandably would want everything planned out in advance, we preferred to "wing it" as we went.

Food spots we went to? *AMAZING* (and this coming from a foodie who lives in San Francisco - we're spoiled with Asian/Chinese food!). He knew the shortcuts, the places to avoid, the places that would be busy vs. the places that would be empty.

After 2+ days with him, we actually became pretty good friends and added each other on WeChat (China's social networking platform).

Oh...did I mention his English ability? *FLAWLESS*. One of the main reasons we became so close in a few days was because he was not your typical tour guide. Did he explain things as we went with some history? Of course. But during down times he's so damn funny! We were surprised that he knew not just "typical classroom" English, but sarcasm/slang terms as well. It was hilarious hanging with the guy!

Don't get a tour bus and be stuck on a set schedule. Contact Eric here...we got accidentally lucky to have come across the guy.

Our next goal is seeing if he can meet us next time we're in China in a couple of months during his busy season!

Very lucky that Eric guided us through this wonderful piece of land in west China for a 2-day tour at Zhangjiajie Forest National Park (a must-see in China, definitely). Besides all hidden information on the park and the city, we also got some insight about Chinese culture, minority, local art through a lovely private tour with fun and super nice Eric.  It will not be the high leveled travel experience if we go on our own(which we usually do since we are young), He really can make a difference.  If you plan to go to Zhangjiajie, the best thing you can do is to contact Eric in advance. He is the man!!!

We planned a trip in Zhangjiajie for 2 days with eric actually, but surprisingly he accoumpany us for 3 days (the day we arive at airport and leave airport) , and it was AWESOME. He welcomed us with his good voice (local song), excellent english (since we are indonesian), friendy, jokes, useful information regarding the history of Zhangjiajie itself, and even played us flute while we were one the way back from the top of Zhangjajie in cable car!! The trip is so perfect and colourful with ERIC! Thanks a lot eric! THE TROP WON'T BE FUN WITHOUT YOU.!!

At first, I was planning to travel in Zhangjiajie alone, but I really had no idea about the place, and for a girl, it's sort of scary to experience unknowns, so I wanted to find some one who is nice to show me around, Luckily, I  read some excellent reviews from past travelers, then I decided to follow Eric and I am so glad I did it.

According to my interests and condition (which he asked to describe before), he did not exaggerate with the words "I will design the perfect itenerary for you."

We didn't only visit the Nationalpark (where he took me to beautiful scenic spots where nobody was), but also went to an old traditional village called Furong Town. Then, we climbed up narrow paths nailed beside rocks and slept in a homestay. The last day, after coming back from Tianmen Mountain, he even managed to convince the employees at the Tujia (Chinese minority) footpath to let us enter as the last guests, although they were about to close.

At the end, I received nice pictures he took of me.

Eric was always taking care of me, he knows a lot about secret places, is very chatty and loves to share interesting informations, stories and legends. He is also good at picking dishes :D being together with him was more like moving around with a travel partner.

Thanks a lot.

This is a review about Eric Denny from his tourist named Jon Bencivenga.

We planned a trip to Zhangjiajie last minute over the Lunar New Year and were able to book Eric Denny even more last minute (two days before arrival).  He was happy to guide us even though it was over a holiday and he would be spending it with us instead of his family.  WOW were we lucky to have found him last minute!

Typically, we like to explore on our own, but this trip would not have been the same without Eric.  Not only is local Chinese speaker is a extremely helpful navigating the national park and the surrounding areas, but Eric new this area inside and out.  He found the perfect spots for our photography addiction and made the trip extremely smooth even though almost everything was closed over the holiday.  Looking back, I’m not sure what we would have done without him in several circumstances.

He was extremely flexible and we adjusted our itinerary several times based on how long we wanted to spend in each place.  We were in the area for three days and he helped us utilize all three days to the max, including the pickup and drop off from the airport.

Eric is a gold mine of a guide and I hope to travel with him again to explore more of China.  He is a great photographer (even let us copy his SD card from the time we spent with him), a talented musician, and fun to banter with.  What more could you ask for in a guide?
